This morning, instead of working on my blog post, I had some important errands to run. Typically I would prioritise my blog but when medical/health related appointments come up I take what I’m given. The reports were promising and being in town also gave me an opportunity to visit with a friend I haven’t seen in years. She’s rejoined Stampin’ Up! and turned the tables by choosing me as her team leader. So before I popped round I made this “Welcome back” card using the Learn & Grow Stamp Set.

I began this project by cutting a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Early Espresso Card for my A2 card base. With the long edge at the top I scored it at 4-1/4″, then folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I cut a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Crumb Cake card and spritzed it with clean water, just to make it a little damp. Then I placed the card inside the Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder. After running the embossing folder through my Cut and Emboss Machine, I removed the card and set it aside to dry.

Meanwhile I cut a 1/2″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and took the “Welcome back” sentiment from the Learn & Grow Stamp Set. Using Early Espresso ink I stamped the sentiment towards the right-hand end of the strip. Next I cut a 3/4″ x 4″ piece of Coastal Cabana Card along with a 7/8″ x 4″ strip of Early Espresso Card. Using liquid glue I fixed the sentiment onto the Coastal Cabana piece, then glued the layers onto the Early Espresso strip.
Before putting away the stamp set and ink pad I pulled out the smiley face image with the heart-shaped eyes. Using Early Espresso ink I stamped the image onto the centre of the flap on a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Very Vanilla Card and stamped the face in the centre near the top. Finally I glued the stamped layer inside the card base.

Now that the Crumb Cake layer was dry I cut a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Coastal Cabana Card and glued the embossed piece on top. Then I mounted the assembled layers onto the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Next I cut 12″ of Linen Thread and curled it into a couple of loops. I flipped over the assembled sentiment strips and put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back, using some of them to hold the thread loops in place. Then I added the completed sentiment to the card front and my project was complete.
It was so nice to be able to give this card in person this morning. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.
