Now that Mother’s Day has passed it’s time to think about Father’s Day. Sadly it seems that too will be celebrated at a distance this year. So today’s mini photo album project, while quick and easy, could help bridge the gap.

A CUT ABOVE
This Father’s Day project actually started without an end project in mind. It was one of those afternoons where I just wanted to spend some quiet time colouring. Instead of flowers I decided to pull out the A Cut Above Stamp Set.
From the fun images I settled on the hammock scene and stamped it onto a 2″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Basic White Card using Basic Gray ink. Why Basic Gray? Well it gives a softer outline to the image than Basic Black, while still contrasting well with the other colours.
With the image stamped I then set to work colouring the image using my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
For the trees and grass I decided to use Cinnamon Cider and Granny Apple Green. The summer sky was coloured with Pool Party, then I used dark Poppy Parade for the little bird. The hammock came next in So Saffron, with the pillow behind his head in Pumpkin Pie.

Turning to the man I coloured his skin using the Ivory Stampin’ Blends, followed by light and dark Crumb Cake for his hair. I decided to leave his T shirt white, contrasting with his shorts which were a combination of light and dark Smoky Slate.
To finish I used the light Pumpkin Pie marker for his drink and light Smoky Slate on the straw. Then I set the panel aside and went off to do something else.
FATHER’S DAY
It was some days later when I decided what I wanted to do with the completed panel. In the A Cut Above Stamp Set I noticed the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment and using Basic Gray ink once again, I stamped it onto a 1/2″ x 2-5/8″ strip of Very Vanilla Card. Then with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the sentiment onto a 3/4″ x 2-7/8″ strip of Cinnamon Cider Card.
Turning back to the hammock panel I used more liquid glue to mount that onto a 2-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ layer of Cinnamon Cider Card. Then I left the assembled piece with the sentiment while I went in search of a mini pocket photo album.
I purchased the 4″ x 6″ pocket photo album some time ago and while the album is useful, the cover inserts are pretty boring. So I removed the inserts from the front and back cover pockets and measured them. Then I cut two pieces of Very Vanilla Card exactly the same size to replace them and slid one of the new pieces into the back cover pocket.

On the second Very Vanilla piece I first used liquid glue to attach the layered hammock panel. Then I fixed the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment in the space below and my project was complete.
Now all that’s needed is to fill the album with personal memories and it will be ready to gift.
