One week from today it will be February but I’ve been looking a little further ahead. In fact I’ve been thinking about the 2018-2020 InColors that will be retiring soon. In case you’ve forgotten, the colours we will be losing are: Blueberry Bushel, Call Me Clover, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick and Pineapple Punch. To remind you I thought for today’s project I’d make a simple card using just Lovely Lipstick.

LOVELY LIPSTICK
I began by cutting and scoring some Lovely Lipstick Card using my Paper Trimmer. Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
Next I pulled out the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set. This set only arrived yesterday so it was my first time inking it up. I chose the “Hugs Prayers Love” sentiment and stamped it onto Whisper White Card using Lovely Lipstick ink. With that done I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to mount it onto a piece of Lovely Lipstick Card.
It was only at this point that I noticed the little decorative image in the set. It’s easy to overlook but the kind of image that can be really useful.
So using Lovely Lipstick ink I stamped it in the centre of the flap on a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Next I stamped it in the centre near the top of a layer of Whisper White Card. Then I used liquid glue to fix the layer inside the card base.
TEXTURED BACKGROUND?
My stamping was complete so now I was almost ready to start putting the card together, but first I needed something for the background layer.

I really wanted something quick and easy and found exactly what I needed in the free Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. While everyone focuses on the waterlily designs, what many miss are the plainer patterns on the reverse of the sheets. Three of the six designs are single colour with the effect of being handpainted onto linen. Two more are single colours handpainted onto a flat surface.
Keeping with my overall colour scheme I chose the Lovely Lipstick sheet and cut a piece for the background. Using liquid glue I mounted it onto Whisper White Card then wrapped some Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the layers.
Then to complete the card I used liquid glue to add the background layers to the card base before adding the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
You know it’s funny that I’ve had almost 21 months to use this colour but have rarely done so. Now it’s heading for retirement I’ve finally begun to appreciate the beautiful deep reddish pink. So here’s my early warning / reminder…
All the 2018-2020 InColors will retire very soon. So if you want the ink pads, ink refills, Stampin’ Write Markers, Stampin’ Blends, card, ribbon or embellishments in these colours, order them as soon as possible. Every year I hear of customers who waited too long to stock up on the retiring InColors and before they knew it they were sold out. Don’t let that be you this year.
PRODUCT LIST
SALE-A-BRATION – The Lily Impressions DSP cannot be purchased but it is available for FREE during Sale-A-Bration. Simply place an order for $60 before shipping and taxes and then choose the DSP as your free gift. Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31st but there’s always a chance that the DSP may go out of stock before then. So my advice is, if you want this DSP make sure you earn and select it sooner rather than later.
