With Christmas almost here it’s time to start thinking of saying thanks. Whether its for gifts received or simply to acknowledge someone who helps you, thanks are always appreciated. So today’s simple Sunday project is a really simple card layout including a few retiring products.

SIMPLE LAYERS
My project began with a simple card base. First, using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored some retiring thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I went looking for a suitable background and I found the perfect subtle pattern in the retiring Snowflake Splendor 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.
From the DSP I cut three pieces, the first 2-1/4″ x 6″. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached this piece to the flap of a retiring Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then with Paper Snips I trimmed off the excess using the edge of the flap as a guide.
My second piece of DSP was cut to 3/4″ x 5-1/4″. This was fixed down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of retiring Whisper White Card. Then with more liquid glue I attached the layer to the inside of my card base.
My last piece of DSP was cut 2″ x 5″. I glued this piece onto a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ layer of Highland Heather Card before fixing the assembled layer to the card front.
MANY MATES
With the layers complete I was now ready to start on the sentiment. I’ve been looking through my stamp sets and thought I hadn’t used Many Mates in ages. It’s a great sentiment only set, and as the name suggests you can pair them up for the front and inside of cards.

Today I decided on the simple “Thanks!” sentiment. So using Highland Heather ink I stamped it onto a scrap of Thick Whisper White Card. Then I punched it out using the Label Me Fancy Punch.
My original idea was to simply attach the punched piece to the card front and leave it at that. However on reflection I decided to add some ribbon for extra interest. So I cut some Silver 3/8″ Metallic Edge Ribbon and created a simple cross-over loop. Then with one Mini Glue Dot holding the loop together, I used another to attach it to the card front.
Finally I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the sentiment over the top and my simple thanks card was complete.
I love how this card turned out, it’s simple but not boring and exactly what I’d hoped for.

PRODUCT LIST
RETIRING PRODUCTS – All Whisper White products in the Stampin’ Up! range are retiring due to circumstances beyond their control. However new Basic White products will be taking their place very soon. The other retiring product used today was the Snowflake Splendor 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) Pack. This DSP is now available at 20% off but, like all retiring products, once stocks are gone they’re gone for good.
