So the snowstorm on Saturday dumped a fair amount of snow (about 6 inches) but thankfully that’s only half what had been forecast. Other areas of Nova Scotia weren’t so lucky and I have to say I feel for them. The snow was wet and heavy and not easy to move, even with a snowblower, and there’s more coming. So it’s the perfect time to finalise tomorrow’s order for when the January to June Mini Catalogue finally launches. For my last sneak peek project I created this poignant “miss you” card using the new Wonderful As You Stamp Set.

SIMPLE LAYERS
The “miss you” sentiment and image I planned to use inspired me to put together a muted colour palette. I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Pretty Peacock Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
Next, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow), I fixed a layer of Seaside Spray Card to the front and set it aside.
Turning to the Wonderful As You Stamp set I selected the “miss you” sentiment. First, using Basic Gray ink I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Card. Then I cut it out using the #2 scalloped-edge die from the Layering Ovals Dies (counting from the smallest up).
Next, using the #3 plain-edge die from the same set, I cut some Seaside Spray Card. Then using liquid glue I fixed the two pieces together and set them aside.
Now I was ready for the image of a person with an umbrella. Using Basic Gray ink I first stamped him in the bottom left corner on a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then after reinking the stamp I stamped him onto the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Finally I stamped him on a 3-3/4″ x 5″ layer of Very Vanilla Card.

EASY COLOURING
With the images stamped I was now ready to begin colouring them using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. For the umbrella I chose Pretty Peacock, with Cinnamon Cider for the coat, and Smoky Slate for his trousers.
TIP – When using Stampin’ Blends on envelopes I always place a piece of scrap paper inside to absorb any excess ink. Just remember to remove the scrap when you’re done.
Once all three images were coloured I took the larger of the two Very Vanilla layers and glued it inside the card base.
To complete the Very Vanilla layer for the front of the card I used the new Blending Brushes to add a subtle layer of ink. First, along the bottom edge I used Sahara Sand ink, then I finished off the rest of the layer with Seaside Spray ink.
I realised at this point that my figure seemed to be floating in midair and needed to be ‘grounded’. So I went back to the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends markers. Using the brush tip of the light and dark marker I quickly added a few random horizontal lines below the man. This made a huge difference to the look of the scene.
Finally I used liquid glue to fix the completed layer onto the front of the card base. Then I added the layered sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and my final sneak peek project was done.
MISS YOU AND MORE
As well as “miss you” the Wonderful As You Stamp Set also has six other sentiments. While they can be used by themselves, they’re also designed to be used in pairs. So if you want to add a sentiment to the inside of your card you can do that too.
In addition the stamp set includes five small images that are so easy to colour, or just leave as line art if you want. With so many possibilities I definitely wanted to add this set to my collection.
