One of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! products is the way everything coordinates. It makes it so easy to create lovely projects with the minimum of fuss. That was important during my personal World Card Making Challenge last month as I tried to design and make 24 different cards in 24 hours. Today’s project is the last of those using layers of different paper products for a celebration card.
A SIMPLE START
I began this project very simply with a piece of Thick Whisper White Card, cut and scored using my Stampin’ Trimmer. I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
Then I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach the pretty fern paper from the Nature’s Poem Design Series Paper (DSP) Pack.
On a layer of Whisper White Card I attached a 1/2″ strip of the same paper along the bottom edge. Then fixed that inside the card base.
LAYERS OF PAPER AND CARD
As this was a celebration card I wanted to use some special paper for my layers, starting with Gold Foil Sheet.
To make it really fancy I cut out the piece using large die from the Stitched Labels Framelits with my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform. This piece was then added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Next I wanted to tie in with the ferns on the Designer Series Paper and for that I used a die from the Tropical Thinlits. Instead of plain card though I decided to use Vellum Cardstock. Once cut, I attached the two fern pieces to the centre of the gold foil label with Mini Glue Dots.
The final layer on the front of the card was the Celebrate sentiment from the Painted Glass Stamp Set. I stamped it onto some Whisper White Card using Tranquil Tide Ink then selected another die from the Stitched Label Framelits to cut it out.
Once cut, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to fix the sentiment across the centre of the card.
MATCHING ENVELOPE
My regular blog readers will know that I love to coordinate my envelopes with my card designs. Sometimes I’ll stamp an image, sometimes I’ll add Designer Series Paper to the envelope flap. For this project I decided to use some more of the fern paper to line the inside of the envelope.
I began by cutting a piece of the Designer Series Paper to 5-5/8″ x 6″. Then I placed it on my Big Shot with the long die from the Beautiful Layers Thinlits centred along one of the 5-5/8″ edge.
The actually die is not quite 5-5/8″ wide so I used my Paper Snips to separate the excess piece from the main section.
Now I could slide the paper inside the envelope and fold over the flap. I used my Bone Folder to press down on the crease then lifted up just the envelope flap. I put a little liquid glue on the back of the paper liner and then pressed the envelope flap down once more. My envelope line was now firmly attached and my project was complete.
I love the way that the Designer Series Paper, foil and vellum layers all wotk together. Each one a different weight, one patterned, one shiny, one translucent. What do you think?
