Today’s project was inspired by a past one that I rediscovered yesterday. In it I had inked the inside of an embossing folder using a Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Pad. The result was an embossed background with the detail picked out by the lighter ink. This project made me want to create a new card with a monochrome palette. I switched things up a bit by using white on black which is simple but effective. As I went on I actually strayed from the monochrome idea, but the finished project is still nice.

MONOCHROME START
As I said, I began with the monochrome white on black idea. Past experience tells me that the Whisper White Craft Stampin’ Ink can fade a bit when it dries, so I knew I’d probably have to stamp it more than once to get a good image. To make this easy I mounted the large floral stamp from the Forever Blossoms Stamp Set onto the hinged plate on my Stamparatus. Then I stamped the image onto Basic Black Card. After waiting a minute or two I stamped it again in exactly the same place.
Then when I was happy with the depth of colour I used my Stamparatus to stamp the “Always and Forever” sentiment. As before I stamped it a couple of times to intensify the white ink.
Next I thought about the coordinating feature for the inside of the card and envelope. I still wanted this to be monochrome but changed to black on white. So using the same large floral image with Tuxedo Black ink I stamped part of it on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then I did the same thing on a layer of Whisper White Card.

With all the stamping complete I was now ready to start putting my project together.
CHANGE OF PLAN
It was only as I began to think about my card base that I strayed from my original monochrome idea. I cut and scored a Whisper White card base but it just seemed too stark and frankly not very inspiring. I suppose I could have tried a black card base but to be honest that never occurred to me at the time. In fact I was waylaid by a Smoky Slate card base I’d made for another project and never used.
Next I started looking for something to layer under my stamped black piece. But instead of going for Whisper White I ended up cutting some Silver Foil Sheet. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the layers together, before mounting them onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

After that, using more liquid glue, I added the stamped Whisper White layer to the inside of the card base. Then to finish I added a little bling to the front with a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.
In hindsight I think I should have tried to keep to the monochrome idea with a Basic Black card base and Whisper White instead of the foil. In fact I may well try it just to see how it turns out.
