Today’s What Will You Stamp? Challenge is #WWYS220 – Geared Up Garage. This stamp set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalogue and I was so happy when I it had been carried over into the new catalogue. Also carried over was the coordinating Garage Gears Dies and Classic Garage Metal Elements (silver wrenches / spanners and keys).
Sadly though, the Designer Series Paper and black and silver ribbon didn’t make the cut. So when I was thinking about my WWYS Design Team project for this week I decided to move away from the ‘car’ theme entirely.

HEXAGONAL BOX
I decided to pull out the retiring Window Box Thinlits one last time and make a hexagonal box for Father’s Day.
I chose some of the new Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) for this, specifically the abstract leaf design.
Using my retiring Big Shot and Magnetic Platform I cut two pieces using the main die from the set. Then I fixed the pieces together using Tear & Tape Adhesive to create the box.
If you’re not familiar with the Window Box Thinlits, here’s a short video from Stampin’ Up! showing all the dies in the set and how to assemble it. I should point out that the stamp set shown later in the video is no longer available.
MORE HEXAGONS
To decorate the box I wanted a hexagon shaped mat. I could have used the die to cut another box piece and then trimmed down the lid section. Instead I grabbed the Tailored Tag Punch and punched three pieces from Copper Foil Sheet.
Then using Tear & Tape Adhesive I overlapped the first two pieces and added the third on top. I now had a symmetrical hexagon with a really interesting layered detail. With that done I attached the hexagon to the lid of the box.

Sadly I don’t have any green ribbon so I chose the retiring Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine to wrap around the box. I did this three times, then instead of a bow I tied it in a simple knot on the lid of the box.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
Now it was time for the Happy Father’s Day sentiment from the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set. To coordinate with the DSP I used Garden Green ink to stamp the sentiment onto some Thick Very Vanilla Card
TIP – If you’re not mounting a sentiment directly onto another piece of card, stamp it onto thick card so it can be popped-up without buckling.
Going back to the Big Shot and Magnetic Platform I then cut out the sentiment with the coordinating die from the Garage Gears Dies.

I attached the sentiment to the top of the box using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, but wasn’t totally happy with how it looked. There was something ‘unfinished’ about the twine. So I took the ends of the twine and tied them together to create a sort of loop. This was so much better and finally my Father’s Day Gift Box was complete.
So there you have it, a project using the Geared Up Garage Stamp Set without a car or mechanical image in sight.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
If you want the Geared Up! Garage Stamp Set and coordinating Garage Gears Dies at a discount, you only have two weeks left to place your order. Although both items are being carried over into the Stampin’ Up! 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue, the bundle offer is not. That means if you want to get the bundle and save 10% off the cost of getting the stamp set and dies separately you need to place your order by June 3rd.
If you want the Window Box Thinlits Dies or the Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine you’ll need to place your order asap. This is because they are both retiring and now only available while stocks last.
While it’s sad to see things retiring I can’t help but be excited for all the products that are coming when the new catalogue goes live on June 4th. Today I gave you a little sneak peek of the Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper (did you notice the shiny accents?), but I have lots more sneak peeks to come. So while it’s grey and wet outside, you’ll find me playing in my craft studio. I hope you’ll come back tomorrow to see what I’ve created.
PRODUCT LIST
Here’s a list of all the currently available products I used for today’s project. The Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper will not be available until June 4th so I can’t add it to this list until then.
