Today has not started as well as I’d planned, let’s hope things improve. I had intended to bring you a gift packaging project but I just couldn’t put my hands on the candy canes. So I went back to the drawing board and came up with this cute gift tag instead.

CANDY CANES SLEIGH
I began the tag with that sleigh and quick batch of die-cutting.
First, using the Cup of Cheer Dies I cut two of the solid candy canes from Real Red Card. Then I cut four of the striped candy canes from Whisper White Card. Finally I cut the small bow from Real Red Card.
For the gift I chose an Old Olive piece from the Nobel Peacock 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. I cut this using the #1 (smallest) square die from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
With all the pieces cut I was ready to assemble the sleigh using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
First I glued a striped candy cane to each side of a solid one. Then I glued the bottom of the gift on top of one of the assembled candy canes. The second candy cane was then fixed on top of the gift. Finally I added the little bow to to decorate the parcel.
SIMPLE TAG BASE
For my tag base I went back to the Stitched Shapes Dies. I cut some Balmy Blue Card using the #4 (largest) of the oval dies in the set. Then I punched a hole at the top using the Detailed Trio Punch and tied on some Whisper White Baker’s Twine.
The “Merry Christmas” sentiment comes from the retiring Cup of Christmas Stamp Set. I stamped it onto Whisper White Card with Real Red ink and then cut it out using the #1 (smallest) oval die.

Next I used liquid glue to attach the sentiment towards the top of the tag base. That just left the sleigh.
At this point I thought about using Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the sleigh but with 7 layers of card (3 on each of the candy canes and one for the gift) it already had some dimension. So instead I used liquid glue to add three layers of card scraps to the back of the gift, making sure they weren’t visible from the front. Now top of the gift sat at the same level as the bottom of the gift. Then with a final application of liquid glue I placed the sleigh onto the gift tag base.
I have to say this tag turned out even better than I’d hoped. I can see a duplicate of the my sleigh embellishment finding a place on a card in the very near future.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Cup of Christmas Stamp Set and Cup of Cheer Dies together using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. The Cup of Christmas Stamp Set is retiring on January 2nd (or earlier if stocks run out) which means this bundle offer won’t be around for much longer. The Cup of Cheer Dies are being carried over and will still be available to purchase in the New Year. I’ve included links to the bundle and the separate items in case you want to explore the options further.
Oops! Sorry about the missing candy canes, but your gift tag is A D O R A B L E!!
