I’ve another quick blog post for you today with a first outing for the New Wonders (Host) Stamp Set. As soon as I saw this set I knew I had to earn it by placing an order for at least $200 before shipping and taxes. That meant that I qualified for Stampin’ Rewards (10% of my order value) to spend on anything I wanted. Host stamp sets can only be purchased using Stampin’ Rewards, but are priced at below retail value. So I used just $18.50 of my Stampin’ Rewards to get this 11 piece cling set that’s valued at $31.00!
My first project was decided before my order was even submitted. I planned to use the page turning fairy and coordinating sentiment to make a bookmark for my granddaughter. Like me and her Mum, she’s an avid reader so this seemed particularly appropriate.

NEW WONDERS
I began with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Whisper White Card and a Seaside Spray ink pad. First I stamped the fairy image towards the bottom of the piece. Then I added the “Each new page reveals a new wonder to be experienced” sentiment above the fairy.
I wanted to concentrate on pastel colours for this project so chose some of my lighter Stampin’ Blends to colour the image.
For her face and hands I went with the Petal Pink light and dark combo, with Seaside Spray combo for her hair. The dress is Purple Posy combo with a little light Highland Heather added.
Then for the leaves I chose the Mint Macaron combo, while the shadow on the page is light Soft Sea Foam. Finally I added a little light Flirty Flamingo for the tiny hearts.
The fairy wings deserved some special treatment so I ‘painted’ them with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. While I was at it I also added a little Wink of Stella to her hair as well.

ONE PUNCH USED TWICE
With the stamping and colouring complete, I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round all four corners of the bookmark. Then I used the oval hole option to punch a hole at the top of the strip.
That just left the Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon. Once I’d threaded it through the punched hole and tied it in a simple knot my bookmark was done.
PRODUCT NEWS
Stampin’ Up! gave us some updates this morning that I want to share with you.
PURPLE POSY INK PAD AND REFILL – Stampin’ Up! are currently testing a third sample of ink from the manufacturer as the two previous samples failed the quality tests. While this is frustrating, I’m delighted that Stampin’ Up! refuse to lower their standards just to get these products on sale. As soon as the problem has been resolved I’ll let you know.
In the meantime don’t forget that you can still stamp with Purple Posy. Just use the brush tip of the Stampin’ Write Marker directly on the stamp surface, breathe on it to ensure the ink is moist, and then stamp as usual. If you want to colour with Purple Posy then you have a few options; the Stampin’ Write Marker or the Stampin’ Blends. Plus you can use the brush tip of your Stampin’ Write Marker to scribble onto an acrylic block and pick up the ink with a Blender Pen or Aqua Painter.
NEW TRIMMER AND CUT & EMBOSS MACHINE – Stampin’ Up! is still developing a replacement for the retired trimmer, and a new cutting and embossing machine. As yet there is no date for either of these items to be released but as soon as I hear more I will definitely let you know.
So that’s all for today. I’m off with the fairies to see what other new wonders they inspire me to create. Meanwhile you’ll find all the exclusive host stamp sets on pages 205 to 207 of the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue, so do check them out. Oh, and during July you can double dip by earning a $6 Bonus Days e-coupon for every $60 spent (before shipping and taxes), on top of Stampin’ Rewards. It’s a great time to stock up on your papercrafting essentials.
