On Monday next week it will be Thanksgiving here in Canada. The stores are full of pumpkin-themed foods and autumn decorations in anticipation of the big day. It’s a good time to remember everything we are thankful for. Whether you get together with family and friends, or merely want to acknowledge those people who serve us as we go about our daily lives, a little token of appreciation is an easy thing to do. This small treat box holds Hershey Kisses chocolates and is an unusual version of a cracker.

CRACKER BOX
I began with a 5″ x 6″ piece from the Fresh As A Daisy 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. This is the perfect size to fit the main die from the Cracker & Treat Box Dies. As well as cutting out the basic shape the die also adds ‘scored’ lines. All I had to do was fold the paper along the lines and gently sharpen the creases between my fingers. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I glued the final panel onto the first one to create a 5-sided cylinder shape.
Next I put some Hersheys Kisses inside the centre section of the cracker. However instead of using twine or mini elastics to close the ends I had a novel idea. All I did was put the palm of my hand against each end and gently press them in. As I did this the pierced sections collapsed into the main body of the cracker and sort of locked into place. No ties required.
All I needed then was a sentiment and from my stash I found a number of stamp sets with small single-line phases. Then I cut out some Thick Basic White Card using several of the label-style dies in the Cracker & Treat Box Dies. Using Copper Clay ink I stamped several of the sentiments onto the various die-cut pieces. But in the end I chose “So happy you’re here” from the Sweet Songbirds Stamp Set.
Before adding the sentiment I fixed some loops of gold twine from the Simply Elegant Trim pack to the back with Mini Glue Dots. Then using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals I mounted the sentiment onto the treat box and my project was complete.
This really is a very simple idea and perfect for when you don’t have a lot of time to create. The fact that there’s no tying of bows invoved doesn’t hurt either!
