It’s time to get going on my Christmas gift tags. Once upon a time I rarely made tags, but now I design at least one a week. They’re a great way to practice techniques or ideas, and to use up scraps. Today I found my scraps in the Poinsettia Place Designer Series Paper (DSP).

FOLDED TAG
The last few tags I’ve made have all been flat strips with a sentiment and embellishments. To change things up I decided to make a folded gift tag this time. So I began with a 3″ x 6″ piece of Whisper White Card, scored at 3″. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
To turn the 3″ x 3″ card into a tag I needed to add a small hole at the back close to the crease. For that I turned to the Detailed Trio Punch. After punching the oval hole I threaded some Linen Thread through it and tied it in a simple knot.
For my sentiment I chose the very appropriate “No peeking til Christmas” from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. Then keeping it simple I stamped it in the top right corner of the tag using Soft Suede ink.
All I needed now was to decorate the front of the tag.
POINSETTIA AND MORE
While sorting through my Poinsettia Place scraps I found a narrow strip of DSP. It had lots of small poinsettias against a green background which was too dark for what I had in mind. However on the reverse was a pretty pattern which I could definitely use. The strip was 5/8″ wide so I simply trimmed it down to 3″ long.

Next I cut a scrap of Gold Foil Sheet to 3/4″ x 3″ and mounted the DSP onto it using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Then I glued the layered strips onto the front of the gift tag.
Instead of stamping and colouring a large poinsettia image I predictably found one in the Poinsettia Place DSP. This image is part of a sheet of large poinsettias on a pale yellow background. All I had to do was cut it out with my Paper Snips. Then after attaching the flower to the front of the gift tag with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals I was done.
Quick, easy and elegant, exactly what I had in mind.
