Today’s the day to save on your Stampin’ Up! purchases. Every order of at least $100CAD (before taxes) will automatically get free shipping! It’s a really great offer and I predict a lot of retiring products will sell out today. So while I was making this birthday card I wanted to show off a few more items from the Last Chance List. Of course with shipping top of mind I couldn’t resist including the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch. It’s now on sale at 40% off (but only while stocks last).

DESERT DESIGN
I began my gender-neutral card with the only sheet in the retiring Delicate Desert Desigenr Series Paper (DSP) pack that actually looks like a desert (well to me at least). Making sure the ‘sand dunes’ were horizontal, I first cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the DSP to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess paper with Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
While still keeping an eye on the direction of the pattern I next cut a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of the DSP, along with a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ piece of Cajun Craze Card. After mounting the DSP onto the card layer with liquid glue I set the assembled layers aside.
Finally I cut a 3/4″ wide x 5-1/4″ high piece of the DSP, and glued that down the right-hand side of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card.
With that done I decided to use coordinating Petal Pink Card for my card base. After cutting and scoring the card I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then I glued the assembled Basic White layer on the inside.
POSTAGE STAMP SENTIMENT
Now I was ready to work on the front of the card and started with a 1-7/8″ x 2-3/8″ scrap of Cajun Craze Card. Using liquid glue I fixed the the piece to the DSP background layer in the centre about 3/4″ from the top.
Next I wrapped wome retiring 7/8″ Natural Finish Ribbon around the layers and across the Cajun Craze piece. Using Tear & Tape Adhesive I secured the ribbon on the back, before attaching the layers to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For my “Happy birthday” sentiment I turned to the retiring Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. Using Cajun Craze ink I stamped it onto a scrap of Basic White Card. Then I punched it out using the retiring Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.
Next I cut a 1-1/2″ a 2-1/8″ piece of Petal Pink Card and glued the sentiment on top. For some bling I chose the retiring Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels which complemented the colours of the DSP very nicely. After adding three of the rhinestones, I attached the completed sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and just like that my project was done.
As always, I’m sad to see products retiring but I received my first new products from the 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue yesterday. So I shall console myself by playing with these today (after taking advantage of the free shipping offer of course!)
