Well it’s official. Hubby went out yesterday to start chipping away at the layer of ice on the driveway and measured it at 5-1/4″ up in front of the garage. Unfortunately we’re not going to see much of a thaw and it could take weeks to shift completely. Meanwhile I’ve decided that it’s not too early for spring in the craft room. So for this morning’s simple Sunday project I pulled out my scraps of Pansy Petals Designer Series Paper (DSP). With a little fussy cutting and the Pansy Patch Stamp Set it didn’t take long to create this pretty birthday gift tag.

PANSY PETALS & GINGHAM
This project really was inspired by the scraps of Pansy Petals DSP. I found some pieces of the Pale Papaya gingham pattern and various pieces covered with small pansies. One of the gingham pieces was 2″ x 4″ and so that decided the size of the tag.
Next I cut a 2″ x 4″ piece of Thick Basic White Card for the tag base. Then using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch I punched the top of the DSP and card. With that done I glued the two pieces together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
Next I had a closer look at the flowery scraps and noticed a small spray of pansies and leaves separate from the others in the design. So using Paper Snips I carefully cut around this piece then glued it onto the tag.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
For the sentiment I chose “Happy Birthday” from the Pansy Patch Stamp Set. I found a scrap of Thick Basic White Card and stamped it using Blackberry Bliss ink to match the pansies.

Using my Paper Snips once again I cut around the sentiment and decided to separate the two words. Then I added them to the tag with small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally I cut a 6″ piece of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. I folded it in half and threaded the loop through the hole in the tag. Then I passed the cut ends through the loop and pulled to secure the twine. In no time at all today’s #simplestamping project was complete.
I love quick projects like these, especially when they allow me to use up scraps I’ve been saving. What’s your favourite way to use your scraps? Please share your tips and ideas in the comments below.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Pansy Patch Stamp Set with the coordinating Pansy Dies (not used today) using a single ‘bundle’ item number. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the same two items separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to explore this option.
