It’s only 11 days to Father’s Day so I’ve been thinking about masculine and gender-neutral projects. Last month I showed you a decorated pocket photo album for Father’s Day, and today I have another gift idea. It’s been ages since I jazzed up a Post-It® Note pad, so that’s what I set out to create. It’s a simple design using the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the Days To Remember Stamp Set.

BEAUTY OF THE EARTH
I really love the Beauty of the Earth DSP. With rich earth tones and abundance of tree and leaf images it’s a great option for masculine and gender neutral projects. Today I chose the green and yellow tree pattern which reminded me of camouflage. That inspired me to keep my colour scheme simple, sticking with just Mossy Meadow and Bumblebee for the card layers.
I began my project by cutting a 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Mossy Meadow Card. Then I cut a 3-3/8″ x 3-3/8″ piece of Bumblebee Card and mounted it onto the Mossy Meadow layer using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Next, keeping an eye on the direction of the trees, I cut a 3-1/8″ x 4″ strip of the DSP and scored it at 3-1/8″ and 3-1/2″. After folding it along the scored lines, I placed the DSP onto the 3″ x 3″ Post-It Note pad and wrapped it around the top. Then I used liquid glue to fix the DSP to the back of the pad, before sticking the pad onto the layered card pieces.
DAYS TO REMEMBER
Now all I needed to do was add a little decoration and so I went looking for a suitable sentiment. I found “Don’t Forget” in the Days To Remember Stamp Set and that seemed appropriate for a notepad where you’d write things you want to remember. So using Mossy Meadow ink I stamped the sentiment onto a 1/2″ x 3-1/8″ strip of Bumblebee Card. I considered fixing the sentiment straight onto the DSP cover but felt it needed a little more interest, so I set it aside for a minute.
I’ve done quite a bit of die-cutting recently so today I wanted something simpler, and definitely not floral. Then it hit me, when trying to not to forget something people are often told to tie a knot. I have absolutely no idea how that’s supposed to work, but for my Post-It Note pad it would be perfect.

I cut two 4″ pieces of Crumb Cake twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. Then keeping the two pieces together I wrapped the twine around the barrel of a pen and tied the ends in a simple reef knot. Then I slid the twine off the pen to reveal a cute hand-made embellishment.
So to finish my project I used liquid glue to mount the sentiment onto a 5/8″ x 3-1/8″ strip of Mossy Meadow Card. Then with a Mini Glue Dot I attached the twine embellishment. Finally I added the assembled sentiment to the DSP cover with some Stampin’ Dimensionals and my project was complete.
I’m really pleased with how this project turned out, especially the little knotted embellishment. What do you think?
If you missed the decorated photo album project you’ll find it in my blog post Looking forward to Father’s Day.
