Suddenly it’s December 5th and Stampin’ Up! have their final promotion of the year, their Year-End Closeout. On the Retiring List revealed today are lots of items from the 2019 Holiday Catalogue. These items are only available while stocks last and some are already sold out.
Also included in the Year-End Closeout are a few items from the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue. These are NOT retiring, but limited quantities have been added to the promotion in order to reduce excess stocks. Once the excess has been sold, the items will revert to their normal price until the end of the annual catalogue period.
You should also note that ALL bundles from the Holiday Catalogue are being retired. This is true even if one or both parts of the bundle are not retiring. This is because the discounted bundle price automatically expires at the end of the catalogue period.
So for my project today I wanted to highlight one of the stamp sets that’s on the Retiring List, Feathers & Frost.
SIMPLE FOLIAGE
I wanted to keep this card really simple and opted for a monochrome look.
Starting with the large foliage image and Tuxedo Black ink I stamped onto a layer of Whisper White Card.
Then I stamped one of the corners of the image across the top right and bottom left corners of another layer of Whisper White Card.
Finally I stamped across the top right and bottom left corners on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
Next using a dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker I coloured half of each leaf through its length. The other half of each leaf was then coloured using the light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends marker.
On the berries I used just the dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends but left a tiny spot of white on each berry.
PEACE TO YOUR HEART
The sentiment came next. I inked up the ‘and peace to your heart’ with Tuxedo Black ink, and covered the ‘and’ on the stamp using some sellotape. Then I stamped the sentiment onto some Thick Whisper White Card.
Using my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform I cut out the sentiment with the #2 square die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits (counting from the smallest upwards).
The sentiment was then fixed over the square foliage image using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
THREE SHADES OF GREY
In keeping with the grey tones I decided to go with Smoky Slate for the card base.
I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score a piece of card, folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach a piece of Basic Gray Card to the centre of the card front. Then more liquid glue was used to add the layer with the sentiment.
On the inside of the card I added the Whisper White Layer with the stamped and coloured corners.
FINISHING TOUCH
To complete the project I took a length of Whisper White 3/8″ Classic Weave Ribbon.
Using the brush tip of the dark Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends marker I coloured along the length of the ribbon, about half way across. Then I coloured the length of the ribbon from the other edge so that the two colours began to blend.
This is quite thick ribbon so I flipped it over and coloured in exactly the same on the other side.
While the ribbon was still pliable I tied a simple bow and trimmed the tails. Then I attached it to the front of the card with a Mini Glue Dot.
In no time at all the project was complete.
I really love the grey tones on this card, it gives a very restful feel. I may well try a similar project but in other colours just to see how they turn out.
RETIRING LIST
You can see all the products in the Year End Close Out and Retiring List in the Year-end Closeout section of my online store. This is the quickest way to find out what is still available.
Just remember that stocks sell out fast, and with the retiring products, once they’ve gone, they’ve gone forever.
