Today is going to be one of ‘those’ days. I have a stack of things I want to get done and only a limited time to do them in. Add to that our forecast is talking about an ‘atmospheric river’ that’s expected to drop 4″ (100+mm) of rain tomorrow and Tuesday. This means that with the high winds that will accompany the rain it’s possible we’ll lose power, at least for time. So today’s project has to be a quick one and I reached for the very apt Sailing Home Stamp Set.
I began my project by using my Paper Trimmer to cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I tucked the cutting blade out of the way at the bottom of the track. Now I only needed the scoring ‘blade’ on the trimmer. It’s a lighter colour so quite easy to tell the difference.
With the short side of the card at the top I scored at 1/8″, then I turned the card a quarter turn and scored again. I repeated this twice more so now I had a scored line on each side. Then going back to the first side I scored, I scored it again, this time at 1/4″. As before, I turned the card and scored each of the other three sides in turn. This resulted in a decorative embossed border that looked almost woven.
With the embossing done I was ready to stamp using the Sailing Home Stamp Set and Basic Gray ink.
I wanted to use the ‘hope’ sentiment and so chose the anchor image to complement it. I stamped the anchor at the left and right ends, apparently sitting on and leaning against the inside of the embossed lines.
With the anchors done I was ready to stamp the sentiment “Let hope be your anchor through the storms of life”. Using Basic Gray ink once again, I stamped it between the two anchors.
Finally, to turn the strip of card into a bookmark I decided to add an oval hole using the Detailed Trio Punch. Then I threaded some Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon through the hole and tied it in a knot. In no time at all my project was complete. I hope you like it.
In less than two weeks Stampin’ Up! will begin their Last Chance promotion featuring products from the January to December 2021 Mini Catalogue that are being retired. Some of these retiring items will be available at a discount, but by no means all. Once the promotion starts all retiring products will only be available while stocks last. So now’s your chance to make your final decisions about Mini Catalogue products that are still on your wish list.
If you don’t want to risk something going out of stock before you can get it, my advice is to order it now. If something you want is scheduled to be reduced in price and you’d rather pay less for it, by all means take a chance and wait until the promotion starts before placing your order. Me? I’m taking one last look for anything that I’ll regret not getting and planning my next order accordingly.
You’ll find all the products that will be retired in the Last Chance Flyer. Just remember the discounted prices listed will not take effect until the promotion starts on December 1st, 2021.
So now if you’ll excuse me I need another coffee. Then I must get to work on my blog projects and posts for the next couple of days, just in case. It never hurts to be prepared don’t you think?
