What a start to September we’ve had! It seems like Mother Nature said “That’s it, summer’s over, you’re done”. It’s very wet and windy, but unlike the summer storms it’s also dark and gloomy too. I don’t mind autumn, but when I know it’s only a buffer zone before winter comes around it takes the shine off a bit. Still, I’m looking forward to embracing all the colours of autumn. That’s what attracted me to the toadstool design I used on today’s simple Sunday project, paired with a marvelous birthday sentiment.

My gift tag dimensions were influenced by the 1-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of the toadstool design paper I’d found among my scraps of the Cute As A Bug Designer Series Paper (DSP). The colours and sentiment idea came straight off a birthday card I’d made a just few minutes before. So I started by cutting a 1-7/8″ x 3-1/2″ of Cajun Craze Card and glued the DSP scrap onto it, up against the left side. Then I cut a 2″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Lemon Lolly Card and glued the Cajun Craze piece on top, again with the left side of the DSP up against the left edge of the card layer.

For my tag base I began by cutting a 2-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ piece of Basic White Card. Then I marked the centre of one of the short sides, 3/8″ down from the top edge. Next, using the 1/8″ Circle Punch from the Hole Punch Assortment, I punched a hole at the mark I’d made. After that I made a mark on the assembled DSP and card layers 1-3/8″ from the left edge and 3/8″ down from the top. Once again I punched a 1/8″ hole at the mark. Now, making sure the two holes lined up, I glued the assembled layers onto the tag base. Finally I threaded 6″ of Gray Granite twine through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.

With that done I chose “To a marvelous person on their birthday!” from the Sending Salutations Stamp Set. Using Cajun Craze ink I stamped the sentiment onto some Basic White Card. Then I punched it out with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch. Next I punched out a 2″ circle from Cajun Craze Card and glued the sentiment on top. To finish, I added Stampin Dimensionals on the back then added it to the bottom right-hand corner of the tag front . And with that my project was complete.
