I make tags, I make cards, I make boxes. In fact I make lots of different things using stamps, ink and paper, but for some reason I don’t often make tags to put on cards. It’s something that I never think to do until after the fact, and it was only as I sat down to show you today’s tag project that I thought “wouldn’t that look nice on the front of a card?”.
I began with a piece of Whisper White Card onto which I stamped the large sentiment from the Detailed With Love Stamp Set using Blueberry Bushel ink. Then I cut out the sentiment using my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform with the #4 plain-edged die from the Layering Ovals Framelits (counting from the smallest up), followed by a piece of Highland Heather Card using the #5 plain-edged die from the same set.
I placed the sentiment on top of the larger oval and used a 1/8″ Circle Handheld Punch to punch a hole at the top through both layers. With that done I attached the sentiment to the larger layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals, making sure to line up the holes.
Next I took a length of Linen Thread and threaded a single silver coloured leaf from the Leaves Trinkets onto it before tying a simple knot so that the leaf would stay flat against the top of the sentiment layer. The loose ends of the twine were threaded through the top of the tag and then tied together around the twisted paper handle of my bag.
All that was left was to tie a bow from a length of Whisper White 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and then attach it to the top of the sentiment with a Mini Glue Dot.
At first glance this tag is quite simple, but I love the combination of masculine blue and feminine lavender, and the contrast between the soft ribbon and the hard metallic accent. I also love how crisp the sentiment looks with that delicate text standing out against the solid inked background. I hope you like it as much as I do.
OK so I know I need to remind myself to put tags on cards, but tags on bags are nice too, don’t you think?
And I’m so glad that you did too! I too like your colour mix. There was a time when I used to put tags on cards a whole lot more than I do anymore … think one must simply forget these things from time to time and need a little refresh, such as you’ve given us all this morning, Tracy! Love that ribbon! Thanks for the share!!
Thank you Geraldine
