This morning I awoke to a very foggy landscape. I’m always struck how the garden looks completely different when some of the major features are hidden. The garden is also very quiet in the fog, even the crow on the power pole has nothing to say. So when I sat down to create today’s simple Sunday project I had that quiet, muted feel in mind. I think I achieved it with some very simple grey stamping and colouring.

SIMPLE COLOURING
I began with a 4-1/4″ x 2″ piece of Thick Whisper White Card shaped at the top using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch.
As I wanted to keep the colouring on this card soft I decided to use Basic Gray for my stamping instead of black. First I stamped the dancing goat from the Way To Goat Stamp Set towards the bottom of the tag. Then I stamped the “Happy birthday you old goat” sentiment in the space above her.
For the ground I used the shadow image but after inking it up I stamped-off onto scrap paper. Then when I stamped onto the tag it was a little lighter. The shadow image is quite small so after reinking and stamping-off again, I stamped it a second time to make the shadow longer.

With all the stamping complete I was ready to start colouring using Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils. Today though I planned to do my colouring without water. I picked up the Basic Gray pencil and started by scribbling a little colour over the tufts on the coat, ears and head. Then I added some more colour on the hooves. Next I used the side of the pencil to add a very light layer of colour over the whole goat except her eyelids.
Once that was done I swapped to the Bermuda Bay pencil to colour in her eyelids.
To finish I threaded some Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon through the slot at the top and secured it in place with a Mini Glue Dot.
I love how this project turned out. It has a subtle quality which was exactly the effect I was going for. And talk about quick! In fact it was the perfect simple Sunday project before breakfast.
