Simple Stamping with Friendly Hello

January 2, 2022 2 Comments

So after yesterday’s fun easel calendar, today’s simple Sunday sneak peek project is a quick and easy card. This one uses two products available for free during the Sale-A-Bration promotion which starts on January 4th. I say two, but actually it’s a single bundle. So choose this and you’ll get the Friendly Hello Stamp Set and coordinating Friendly Hello 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP). I love the 13 piece photopolymer stamp set. But what really drew me in was the DSP pack with its combination of florals complimented by a couple of graphic designs.

Create this quick and easy card with "Hello friend" sentiment using the Friendly Hello Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! #simplestamping #papercraftwithme

PRETTY FLOWERS

I began my project by deciding on the colour palette. This was a relatively easy task using the Friendly Hello DSP as my starting point. I settled on a fresh-looking floral design in white on a Pool Party background. Then by looking at the back of the pack I could see which other colours the designers had used. After a little consideration I settled on Fresh Freesia as my second colour and continued from there.

For my card base I chose Thick Basic White Card. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored the card, then folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

Now I needed to cut four pieces of the floral paper. I cut the first piece at 2-1/4″ x 6″ and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) attached it to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess paper with Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.

The second piece of the Friendly Hello DSP was cut at 3/4″ x 5-1/4″. Using liquid glue I fixed this strip down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then along the left edge of the DSP I added a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Fresh Freesia Card. With that in place I glued the assembled layer inside the card base.

That just left the front of the card to do and for that I needed two final pieces of DSP.

Going back to the floral sheet, I cut one last piece, this time at 3-3/4″ x 5″. This was glued to a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ layer of Fresh Freesia Card. Finally I cut a 3/4″ x 3-3/4″ strip of a white splatter design on a Fresh Freesia background. Then I glued this across the floral background about 1″ from the top edge.

HELLO FRIEND

It was time to stamp my sentiment and for that I chose “Hello friend” from the Friendly Hello Stamp Set. This is quite a bold font and so I decided to use my Stamparatus to help me.

I placed a 1-3/4″ x 3″ piece of Basic White Card onto the Stamparatus platform and then centred the see-through sentiment on top. I closed the hinged plate to pick up the stamp and inked it up using Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped the sentiment onto the card. Now the reason for using the Stamparatus rather than a standard acrylic block… I reinked the stamp again and stamped my sentiment a second time in exactly the same place. This gave me a crisp and solid result that really makes the words stand out.

I had just a few more steps left to complete the card.

Going back to the layered DSP I wrapped 18″ of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack around the Fresh Freesia strip. Then I tied it in a simple bow on the right-hand side, leaving the tails long.

Next, using Fresh Freesia ink I stamped a small ‘berry’ image from the Friendly Hello Stamp Set in the top right and bottom left of the sentiment piece. Then I mounted it onto a 1-7/8″ x 3-1/8″ layer of Fresh Freesia Card with liquid glue.

Finally I attached the assembled sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my project was done.

I love how this card turned out it’s clean and fresh and so easy to replicate. What’s more the other two sentiments in the Friendly Hello Stamp Set would work perfectly on the inside. What do you think?

Here’s a close up look at the Friendly Hello Stamp Set, which is included in the Friendly Hello Bundle from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure. You can get the bundle for free with a $120CAD order (before shipping and taxes). Sadly the stamp set and coordinating paper are not available separately.
