When I was at the 3 day Stampin’ Up! OnStage Live event in Florida last week we were set a challenge. As Demonstrators we were reminded that not everyone is an experienced crafter and that it’s important to go back to basics from time to time. This is something that I’ve been doing for a couple of years with my Simple Sunday projects. Today I thought I’d show you some really simple stamping with a limited edition stamp set that’s only available until the end of the month (while stocks last).
ONE TWO THREE FOUR
One stamp set – Snow Is Glistening
Two embellishments – Night of Navy 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon and Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine
Three ink pads – Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Night of Navy
Four projects – Two bookmarks and two gift tags.
SIMPLE CUTTING
All my projects were cut from Thick Whisper White Card.
For the bookmarks I cut my 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and then cut each piece into strips 2″ x 5-1/2″. This way I can get 8 bookmarks from one sheet of card.
For the tags I cut my 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and then cut each piece into strips 2″ x 4-1/4″. This way I can get 10 gift tags from one sheet of card.
Each of the 2″ strips were punched at the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Both bookmarks and one tag was shaped at the bottom using the corner option on the Detailed Trio Punch.
SIMPLE STAMPING
For the darker bookmark I began with Balmy Blue ink and the snowflake border image. Then I filled in the rest of the background using the dotted image. Next I took the largest of the individual snowflake images and stamped it stamped using Night of Navy ink. Finally I stamped the smallest snowflake image using Pacific Point ink.
For the Joy bookmark I stamped over the whole piece with Balmy Blue ink (stamped off onto scrap paper first) using the small combined snowflake & dot image. Then I added the largest snowflake with Balmy Blue ink. Finally I stamped the 3rd largest snowflake with Pacific Point ink. With the snowflakes done I added the ‘joy’ sentiment using Night of Navy ink.
On the ‘For You’ gift tag I only used Night of Navy ink. Stamping the largest snowflake in the centre of the tag and then the sentiment underneath.
The second gift tag was created using the large ‘snowflake tree’ image and Night of Navy ink to create a border effect. Then I stamped the sentiment using Balmy Blue ink.
RIBBON AND TWINE
On each of the bookmarks I used a 6″ piece of the Night of Navy 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon. I threaded the ribbon through the slot at the top and fixed the pieces to the front and back of the bookmark using Mini Glue Dots.
For the gift tags I used 6″ of Night of Navy Medium Baker’s Twine. On the ‘for you’ tag I threaded the twine through the slot and tied it in a simple knot. On the border tag I folded the twine in half, threaded the loop through the slot and passed the ends through the loop. Then I gently pulled on the cut ends to tighten the twine.
SUPER SIMPLE, SUPER FAST
In no time at all I had completed all four simple stamping projects and I love how clean and elegant they look.
I have to say I love the versatility of the Snow Is Glistening Stamp Set. The variety of sentiments and images will allow me to create a whole batch of tags and bookmarks all different but with a common theme. In fact I think that’s exactly what I’ll be doing today.
EVER WISHED FOR FREE SHIPPING?
Starting on Friday November 23rd Stampin’ Up! is having an Online Extravaganza with almost everything in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue available at a 10% discount. When you think that we usually pay 10% shipping, that means we’re pretty much saving the shipping cost during this promotion. In fact if you do the maths this is actually better than free shipping.
The extravaganza is going to be split into three two-day periods and each period will feature a particular type of product. So November 23-24 it will be ‘Paper and Embellishments’, then November 25-26 it will be ‘Stamps and Kits’, and finally November 27-28 it will be ‘Tools and Ink’. So over the course of the promotion everything I used on my projects today, except the Snow Is Glistening Stamp Set, will be available at a discount.
There are a few items that are not going to be discounted which unfortunately includes the Big Shot and Stamparatus. The other major exclusions are bundles (which are already discounted by 10%), Paper Pumpkin and Host stamp sets. Stampin’ Up! have issued this full list of all the excluded items.
You should also be aware that there are limits on the number of each item that will be sold at the discounted price. Therefore you should plan to order as early as possible in each period so as not to be disappointed.
Please note that as Stampin’ Up! is based in Utah, the ‘day’ is based on Mountain Time.
