Only 10 days until Christmas and things are really starting to get hectic. Invitations to parties or just to visit has me thinking of host/ess gifts. Today’s project using the Snowflake Sentiments Stamp Set is a nice way to dress up a wine bottle (or any other bottle for that matter).
THE BOTTLE WRAP
I started by measuring the bottle. For this 1 litre wine bottle I’d need a piece of Whisper White Card 12″ long. The depth of the card? That was dictated by the depth of the label already on the bottle, in this case 4″.
Using the Snowflake Sentiments Stamp Set I decided to decorate the bottle wrap in shades of blue.
Starting with the largest of the two single snowflake images I stamped randomly over the card. I used Night of Navy ink for this first image, but each time I inked up the stamp I ‘stamped off’ onto scrap paper, before stamping onto the card. This resulted in a lighter tone of the navy colour.
Then using the smaller single snowflake I stamped the card using Pacific Point ink, again stamped off first.
Finally I filled in the gaps using the small snowflake with Balmy Blue ink, once again after stamping off onto scrap paper.
With the stamping complete, I wrapped the card around the bottle, overlapped edges at the back and secured them using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
NIGHT OF NAVY ACCENTS
I decided to use Night of Navy for my accents, starting with the 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon.
I began by wrapping 12″ of the ribbon around the bottle wrap with the cut ends at the front. Then I and fixed the ribbon in place using Mini Glue Dots. I would hide these cut ends with the sentiment.
Next I took 7-1/2″ of the ribbon and cut a V shape at each end. Then I wrapped it around the neck of the bottle, crossing over at the front. Using Mini Glue Dots I then fixed the ribbon to the bottle and to itself.
My final Night of Navy piece was a 2″ x 4″ piece of card. Using the Triple Banner Punch I punched one end to create a banner. Then with a line of liquid glue down the centre I attached the banner to the front of the bottle wrap.
SNOWFLAKE SENTIMENTS
Now it was time for the ‘Merry Christmas from our family to yours’ sentiment from the Snowflake Sentiments Stamp Set. I stamped this onto some Thick Whisper White Card using Night of Navy ink.
Using the Big Shot and Magnetic Platform I cut out the sentiment using the #3 oval die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits (counting from the smallest up). Then I cut a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper using the #4 oval die from the same set.
I fixed the sentiment to the Glimmer Paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then attached it to the banner on the bottle wrap.
Finally I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the sentiment, and one on the ribbon collar, and I was done.
Dressing up a bottle like this is so simple. It makes a lovely gift and looks good on the table during a meal. If you want to be able to see what wine is in the bottle, just remember to stick the ends of the bottle wrap to each other, rather than to the bottle.
