Yesterday I brought you an autumn-themed sneak peek. Today we move on to winter with the Snowman Season Stamp Set and a pocket photo album. I love decorating these mini albums and it seems the customers in the local craft store love to buy them. So even though snowman season is (hopefully) a few months off yet, here’s what I came up with this morning.

WINTER SKY
I began my project by removing the boring cover inserts and cutting two pieces of Whisper White Card to replace them. Then on one of the pieces I used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp this sweet snowman image from the Snowman Season Stamp Set. I also stamped him onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It® Note and cut out just the snowman portion with Paper Snips. Then I placed my Post-It Note mask over the snowman on the cover piece so I could work on the background.
I have a favourite technique for creating winter skies that I like to call ‘cracked ice’. It’s a Saran Wrap (cling film) technique that uses scrunched up Saran Wrap to apply ink to the card. Today I chose Seaside Spray for my ink colour and gently tapped the Saran Wrap onto the ink pad. Then I tapped it onto the card 3 times before reinking the Saran Wrap again. This created darker and lighter areas which all added to the winter sky effect.
I repeated this process until the backgrounds on both cover pieces were done then I removed the Post-It Note mask.
SIMPLE SNOWMAN
I decided to keep my snowman really simple using Stampin’ Write Markers to add a touch of colour.

For the scarf and hat I chose Poppy Parade from the Brights collection. Then for his nose I used Pumpkin Pie from the Regals collection. That’s it. That’s all the colouring I did.
Finally I used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the “Let it Snow” sentiment in the top left corner of the snowman piece. Below the snowman I then stamped “Hoping this season builds heartwarming memories”.
Now all I had left to do was insert the two cover pieces into the back and front pockets of the album and I was done.
With the mini album decorated, all I have to do now is wait for snowman season to start. But can wait.

I love this stamp set, but then I love anything to do with snowmen too … and this is just the most delightful little scene you’ve created for your album. The “cracked ice” using the cling wrap really comes into it’s own in this background; it’s just so perfect!
LOVE IT!
Thank you Geraldine. I see more snowmen in my future.
