For today’s simple Sunday project I thought I’d show you a fun way to wrap a small gift or loose candy. This sour cream container is probably one of the simplest containers to make and needs no scoring or folding. This version also includes a twine handle so you can hang it on the Christmas tree if you wish.
SOUR CREAM CONTAINER
So just to recap, the patterned paper I used for the sour cream container is from the Under The Mistletoe Designer Series Paper pack. For this project I cut my paper to 4″ x 7-3/4″. My finished sour cream container is 4″ high x 3-3/4″ across.
I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to fix the main seam and the bottom edge. Then I added my candy before closing the top with more Tear & Tape Adhesive.
To hang the sour cream container I cut a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper 1″ x 3-3/4″ (this is 1/4″ less than half the width of my DSP). Next I tied a long loop of Whisper White Baker’s Twine and secured it in the crease of the Glimmer Paper. Then I folded the Glimmer Paper over the top seam of the container and secured it on each side with Tear & Tape Adhesive.
The Merry Christmas sentiment comes from the Mistletoe Season Stamp Set. I stamped it using Real Red ink on Whisper White Card and punched the sentiment using the Pretty Label Punch. Then I attached the sentiment to the finished sour cream container with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
ANY SIZE CONTAINER
You can create a sour cream container using any size of paper. If you start with a rectangle your finished project will be ‘square’, if you start with a square piece of DSP your finished project will be more ‘rectangular’.
Cut the paper twice as wide as you want the finished container plus 1/4″ to overlap the edges. You’ll need to cut the paper about 1/2″ taller than you want for the finished size to allow for the top and bottom closure.
