I have this problem. When I create projects featuring plants and animals I always tend to use the correct colours. Not that this is wrong, but sometimes I wonder if I should be a little more imaginative. I tried to change things a bit today with the Hedgehugs Stamp set, creating a hedgehog that wasn’t brown. No seriously, no brown involved at all!

This project was all about the very special hedgehog so I wanted to keep the layout of the project really simple.
I began by cutting and scoring a piece of Fresh Fig Card using my Stampin’ Trimmer. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
For the main panel I chose Whisper White Card with Gold Glimmer Paper as a mat underneath.
GOLDEN HEDGEHUGS
Avoiding the brown, I decided to use only gold embossing on my card. It is supposed to be special after all.
First I wiped a piece of Whisper White Card with my Embossing Buddy and then used VersaMark ink to stamp the hedgehog with the flower from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Next I checked the image for any stray specks of powder before melting the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
With the hedgehog done, I stamped ‘today is special – just like you’ from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set using VersaMark ink. Then I repeated the embossing process in gold.

Once the embossing was cool I mounted the panel to the Glimmer Paper with Tear & Tape Adhesive, and then fixed the layers to the front of the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
EVEN MORE GOLD
With the front done I chose one of the separate flower images from the Hedgehugs Stamp Set to create a coordinated look to the project. I wiped a layer of Whisper White Card with the Embossing Buddy and stamped the flower in the bottom right corner with VersaMark ink. Then I did the same on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
Next, I sprinkled both images with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Power and then tapped off the excess. After removing some stray specks of powder, I melted the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high) as before.
To finish my project I fixed the Whisper White layer inside the card base with liquid glue and I was done.
OK maybe I didn’t step too far outside the box with my hedgehog. But gold isn’t brown, and he does look rather special don’t you think?
I’ve made some other projects using the Hedgehugs Stamp Set and you can find them in these earlier blog posts:
STORAGE BY STAMPIN’ UP! IS IN DEMAND

The new Storage by Stampin’ Up! range is proving to be a real hit with Demonstrators and customers alike and the first three days of sales have been very high. This might mean that stocks will run out for a short period and we will be unable to order them for a while. But never fear, more are on order and hopefully will arrive soon.
Storage by Stampin’ Up! will be in the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue so you can be assured that you will be able to order them for a long time to come, even if there is a temporary interruption in supply.
Talking about interruptions, we’re currently waiting for a powerful spring storm to hit, with torrential rain and high winds forecast. I think that’s Mother Nature’s way of saying I need to spend the day in my Craft Studio.
Oh OK, if I must…
