Yesterday was another exciting day as I took delivery of some more new products from the Stampin’ Up! 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue. It wasn’t a huge order but it did contain some special mixed packs containing card in the new and returning colours, and a pack containing all the new and returning colours of Stampin’ Write Markers. Now, even though I don’t yet have all the new colour ink pads, I have the option to use the markers directly on the surface of the stamp, or to scribble onto an acrylic block to ‘paint’ with the ink.
My order only contained two new stamp sets but they are gorgeous and were ones I knew I’d have to get as soon as I saw the new catalogue. So I thought that today I’d bring you a simple card created using the new Accented Blooms Stamp Set.
I began with a piece of Watercolor Paper and used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the main image from the Accented Blooms Stamp Set. I decided to make the flowers bold and bright and with all my new Stampin’ Write Markers I was really spoilt for choice. In the end I used… Pineapple Punch, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry; Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape; Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo; Pear Pizzazz, Granny Apple Green and Garden Green; Coastal Cabana and Basic Black.
With my flowers and leaves all coloured, I then turned to the blank area in the centre of the image. This is designed to coordinate with the Tailored Tag Punch being carried over from the 2018 Occasions Catalogue and the sentiments in the Accented Blooms Stamp Set all fit perfectly. I used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink to stamp the ‘Big ways…small ways…Love you always’ sentiment onto a piece of Watercolor Paper and then punched it out.
The punched piece is slightly smaller than the open area in the image so I decided to use the brush tip of the Gray Granite Stampin’ Write Marker to add a wide border within the open area. Then when I added the punched sentiment on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals I had a light grey border showing around and underneath it.
Now that the main part of the card was complete I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score some Gray Granite Card. I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to form a card base. The assembled floral layer was then fixed to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
As well as the very large image and four sentiments, the Accented Blooms Stamp Set also comes with three smaller images which are perfect for those little finishing touches. I stamped one of them with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink in the centre near the top of a layer of Whisper White Card, and on the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Once the images were coloured with Stampin’ Write Markers in Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green, and the Whisper White layer fixed to the inside of the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow), my pretty project was complete. I hope you like it.
Despite these being standard water-based markers I was really happy with the shading and dimension I was able to get simply by colouring over an area again with the same markers. I demonstrated this technique earlier in the year in my YouTube video ‘How to colour a basket image’.
So to complete today’s sneak peek, here’s the Accented Blooms Stamp Set. I do hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for more new products from the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue that goes live on June 1st.
Beautiful Tracy! Love that this stamp set has options for those of us who love to colour too.
Thank you Geraldine, I think this set is going to be very popular.
