Stepping It Up With Threads And Pearls

February 26, 2020 Leave a Comment

Last week I created a simple masculine card with a design using just stamps, ink and paper. Today I thought it would be fun to take the same layout and step it up a little. For this card I chose the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (DSP), and also added ribbon and pearls.

In an effort to show you just how simple it can be to add extras to a basic card design I decided to cut all my pieces exactly the same size as before. And I placed them in exactly the same positions. I even used the same sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set.

WOVEN THREADS

For today’s card I took my patterned pieces from the Woven Threads DSP pack. I used Terracotta Tile Card for the base and Sahara Sand card for the layers. These are two of the colours listed on the Woven Threads DSP packaging. Then I chose Terracotta Tile ink for the sentiment.

The card was put together in exactly the same way as before but with a couple of minor changes:

After layering the larger piece of DSP I wrapped some Whisper White 5/8″ Flax Ribbon around it and secured the ribbon on the back with a little Tear & Tape Adhesive. Then once the card was assembled I added a line of 3 Pearl Basic Jewels in the top right corner.

If you’d like to see the original masculine card I created using this layout visit my earlier blog post Layering patterned paper can work. In that post you’ll also find step-by-step instructions for putting the basic card together, including the sizes of each piece.

I had such fun with this card layout I think I may try stepping it up again. Watch for that on my blog in the coming weeks.

PRODUCT LIST

BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set in a bundle with the Poppy Moments Dies. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the stamp set and dies separately. Although I didn’t use the dies today I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to look at this option.
