Hurricane Lee has begun to impact Nova Scotia, although it’s now been downgraded to a ‘post-tropical storm’. We’re still going to get strong winds, heavy rain and tidal surge, but over a much wider area. By 8.20 am over 90,000 properties were without power, and the situation will get worse before it gets better. So I need to get my post typed quickly, just in case. When I sat down to design this notecard project I couldn’t help but reach for the Playing In The Rain Stamp Set and Dies. CUTE ... VIEW POST
Gold Start For Autumn
Although we’ve had some scorching weather recently it’s obvious that autumn is just around the corner. So as I was looking at the Paper Florist Dies I began to think of ways to use them for the new season. I started by pulling out some ink pads in autumn shades and then remembered the Gold Distressed 12” x 12” Specialty Paper. I love the look of this paper but wondered whether it was possible to give it a hint of autumn colour. There was only one way to find out! DISTRESSED GOLD PAPER I ... VIEW POST
Fancy Trim
Do you need to have a plan when crafting, or are you happy to just “wing it”? To be honest pretty much everything I do has an element of unknown for me. Sometimes I’ll sit down with a vague idea in my head, other times I’m completely blank and have no clue what I’m going to make. The only certainty about today’s project was that it would be a birthday card. So let’s just say that the fancy trim and customised paper I ended up creating were a total surprise. COLOURFUL STRIPES I remember ... VIEW POST
Flowers From The Zoo
Often when I make a project featuring flowers the blooms are big and the focus of attention. For today’s card however they are much more subtle. That said, they were definitely the most time-consuming part of the creative process. You see the flowery background is one of the black and white patterns in the Zoo Crew 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. My colour scheme came from another sheet from the DSP pack where the cute alligator is riding a bike with a basket full of pink ... VIEW POST
Happiness Reimagined
Have you ever bought craft supplies because you love them but then can’t think of ways to use them? I know I have. Many times. So over the years I’ve found a way to unclog that creative block. I ignore the products and play with other things that inspire me more. Then when I eventually go back to the original items I see them with fresh eyes and the ideas flood in. That’s what happened with the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set, Blossoming Happiness Dies and coordinating Hues of Happiness ... VIEW POST
Decorative Details
It seems to me that just lately my projects aren’t quite going according to plan. Not that it’s a bad thing, but simply that while I may start out with an idea for a project somehow it seems to take on a life of its own. For instance, for today’s thank you card I had every intention of using an embossing folder to add texture to the patterned paper. However before I knew it I’d stamped on the paper using the Decorative Borders Stamp Set and coloured it in instead! QUARTER SHEET My card ... VIEW POST
