I love it when Stampin’ Up! creates Designer Series Paper (DSP) with images that coordinate with a stamp set and/or dies. It adds extra versatility, and is especially great if you’re not a fan of colouring or fussy-cutting. However one of the downsides for me is that I can get caught in a rut with the colours. So every time I pick up a stamp set like Framed Florets I can’t visualise anything other than the colours used by the DSP designers. That’s where quick experimental projects can be ... VIEW POST
Rustic Meadow Idea
When I think of meadows I usually think of them in the summer. We’re trying to cultivate a natural flower meadow in a large area behind our house but it’s slow going. We started off with a few lupins that grow wild along the roadside. Having rescued the plants from being mowed down they are now well-established and spreading beautifully. We also have other plants springing up that I’ve yet to properly identify. But as autumn takes hold the whole area changes into shades of brown inspiring ... VIEW POST
By My Side
I’m feeling a little better and hopefully the worst of this cold it behind me. Yesterday was one of those ‘go with the flow’ days, just doing what I could as I felt able. Lots of rest and plenty of fluids too. It’s definitely autumn here now, although the blaze of colour we’re used to is definitely lacking. Hurricane Fiona certainly cheated us when she tore the leaves from the trees. But nature rebounds and a butterfly inspired me to create this project using the By My Side Stamp Set. BY MY ... Elephant Parade Again
My process for designing new projects varies. Sometimes I just sit and start creating something with no real idea where I will end up. Other times I have a definite plan and everything comes together just as I had imagined it would. Today’s project however didn’t go quite so smoothly. You see I’d planned to use the Elephant Parade Stamp Set along with the coordinating Elephant Dies. But I ended up ditching the dies in favour of fussy cutting with Paper Snips. All because of the colouring ... VIEW POST
Hand Penned Flowers Again
After creating yesterday’s decorated box project I did something that I rarely do, I walked away from my workspace without put everything away. It’s not a difficult or time-consuming task as everything has a place, but I was running late for an appointment and it was a minute I just didn’t have. Of course that meant when I sat down to create today’s card project I had to clear the desk first. However before putting away the pretty Hand Penned Petals Stamp Set I couldn’t resist getting it inky ... VIEW POST
Elephant Is A Mammal
With all the focus on retiring lists and new catalogues it’s been ages since I’ve joined a design challenge. I like challenges as they often make me think outside the box or encourage me to try new things. This morning I noticed the Just Us Girls Challenge #639. It’s word week, and the word was "mammals". That gave me just the excuse I needed to pull out the Elephant Parade Stamp Set and start colouring. But as I looked for an interesting background, things became a great deal more ... VIEW POST
