When I was a little girl visiting our grandparents was a real treat. We didn't always have a car so it didn't happen as much as any of us would have liked. When we did go I remember being reminded about manners and acceptable behaviour. Not that we needed reminding, the way our grandparents behaved and spoke was reminder enough. When Grandma would offer us a plate of biscuits we only took one, and had to be persuaded to take a second. Mum always mentioned that Grandma was never asked "how ... VIEW POST
Mixing Paper Products
One of the things I love about Stampin' Up! products is the way everything coordinates. It makes it so easy to create lovely projects with the minimum of fuss. That was important during my personal World Card Making Challenge last month as I tried to design and make 24 different cards in 24 hours. Today's project is the last of those using layers of different paper products for a celebration card. A SIMPLE START I began this project very simply with a piece of Thick Whisper ... VIEW POST
Looking for a tropical escape
Oh my goodness it's cold here in Nova Scotia! Currently minus 11 but with the wind it's feeling like minus 18! We had more snow overnight so I'll be out shovelling again later. Oh how I wish I was still enjoying my tropical escape in Florida. With winter conditions arriving so early this year, spring seems a lifetime away. Its a good job I can bring some pretty flowers into my craft room with Designer Series Paper. Today's project is a birthday card created as part of my personal ... VIEW POST
Vague ideas
This morning I read a Facebook post from a well-known local artist Joy Laking, where she revealed that even though she's been a painter for 45 years she still struggles sometimes with inspiration, as well as fear and anxiety as she works on a project. This was an eye-opener to me. I know Joy and she always comes across as so confident in what she does, but her words will be comforting to other artists and crafters and it's OK to struggle during the creative process. It's a great insight and ... VIEW POST
Beautiful Promenade
Yesterday I was searching for something entirely different when I came across a box of mini chocolates that I'd purchased last year in Amsterdam. The colours inspired me in my papercrafting this morning, and as I know I don't have any windmill images I pulled out the Beautiful Promenade Stamp Set instead. I began by looking for an appropriate blue ink. Blueberry Bushel ink was a bit dark, but Bashful Blue was too light. To solve my problem I stamped the sentiment and separate blue ... VIEW POST
Tropical Escape
Oh my, our weather certainly has been erratic, so cold last week people were lighting their fires, and so hot yesterday you could fry eggs on the pavement. I do prefer the heat to the cold though and it made me want to create a project using the Tropical Escape 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP) stack from Stampin' Up! (one of the packs included in the buy 3 get 1 promotion this month). While I was at it I thought I'd also show you a die you may have overlooked. But first the ... VIEW POST
