Last month I had a great time with my 12 year old granddaughter who came to visit us from the UK for 3 weeks. She’s been to Canada many times but this was her first vacation without the rest of her family. We obviously indulged in the obligatory shopping and eating, and trying new things. But the highlight of the trip for us both was whale watching in the Bay of Fundy. Seeing the humpback whales close up was an incredible experience and definitely one we intend to do again. Of course as ... VIEW POST
Autumn Daisies
Are you prepared for a change of season? I definitely feel that autumn is beginning to show its influence in my craft studio. But I’m not quite ready to give myself over to all things pumpkin and leaves. Still as I worked on today’s birthday card project using the Cheerful Daisies Stamp Set and coordinating dies, I couldn’t help but notice I was gravitating towards more muted colours. Mind you when it came to the background I still wanted a brighter sky. Hopefully I’ll see that out the window ... VIEW POST
Gilded Poinsettia
While I try to set aside time for my crafting, life sometimes gets in the way. Like yesterday evening as I dealt with hubby’s flight from the UK being cancelled, and confirming his new flight details. Checked at 2am, only to discover he’d not seen my message and arrived at Heathrow an hour before he needed to. Then this morning a brief power outage set me back. So to me it makes sense to get cracking on my Christmas crafting. Today’s pretty gilded poinsettia bookmark will accompany a gifted ... VIEW POST
Another Rustic Idea
It’s time for another simple Sunday project and this week it’s a quick and easy card idea using the Rustic Crate Stamp Set. One of the things I hear a lot from fellow crafters is how challenging it can be to manage their card scraps. One way I’ve learned to deal with the problem is to make sure I actually use the scraps I keep. So every now and then I’ll design a card purely based on what scraps I have. The same goes for things like twine and ribbon. ODD SIZED LAYERS When I began to ... VIEW POST
Abundant Beauty
It’s 30 days until Thanksgiving in Canada and Mother Nature’s starting to put out the decorations. Even though it’s unseasonably warm here in Nova Scotia I can still see signs of autumn starting to appear. There’s lots of pumpkins and pumpkin spice treats in the stores, but for me the best part of autumn is the warm colours. So when I found a leafy stencil in the new Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks I couldn’t help myself. Out came the Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Copper Clay and Berry Burst ink ... VIEW POST
Quiet Saturday
I think the hectic schedule of the past month has finally caught up with me. Why else would I sleep in when I can spend the entire day crafting uninterrupted? They’re forecasting heavy rain so my plan is to spend some quiet time creating lots of new projects for my blog. For the next few days I’ll be bringing you projects using currently available products from Stampin’ Up!. Then, starting on August 30th it will be a week of sneak peeks from the amazing September to December 2023 Mini ... VIEW POST
