If you saw my Papercraft With Me Facebook page over the weekend you’ll know that the remnants of Hurricane Lee visited us here in Nova Scotia. As expected we lost power for a time during Saturday and there was nothing to do but ride it out. As well as reading, I spent time in my craft studio. Without power I couldn’t use my Heat Tool, but everything else was available to me. So I decided to create a wedding card while getting the shining gold from paper, ribbon and embellishments. Wonderful Realisation
This morning got off to a slow start after I woke up with back ache. Fortunately some gentle exercise has resolved it and I can now get on with the rest of my day. First I needed to make a “congratulations” card for a wedding I’ll be attending at the end of the month. I wanted the sentiment to be elegant and so immediately reached for the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set. I’ve used this set a few times, but today I finally realised I should have bought the coordinating dies! DREAMY ... VIEW POST
Florist Congratulations
A few days ago I had great fun jazzing up some Post-It® Notes using some of the Paper Florist Dies. This amazing set doesn’t coordinate with any stamp sets, so it could very easily be overlooked in the Stampin’ Up! 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue. There’s 18 dies in the set and I’m having a lot of fun discovering all the flower shapes I can create with them. Today’s elegant congratulations card project is very different as I set out to make a mainly white card with just a touch of silver. FLAT ... VIEW POST
Irresistible Vellum
I love using vellum. At it’s most basic, vellum diffuses any colour or pattern behind it. However one of my favourite techniques is to run it through my Cut & Emboss Machine inside an embossing folder. This not only adds texture, but also stresses the vellum so the design appears white. By running it backwards and then forwards through the machine you can even create a shadow effect. That’s how I created the layer behind the Hello, Irresistible 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (DSP) used on ... VIEW POST
Wonderful Thoughts
As well as being a sucker for cute animal images I’m also a big fan of sentiments. My problem is that I’m not keen on loose scripted fonts, to my eye they appear scruffy. And to be honest if I’d wanted a messy sentiment I’d write it by hand! So when I saw the new Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set I was immediately drawn in. It’s one of those sets that uses two different fonts, a ‘print’ and a ‘script’ (if that makes sense), and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. SIMPLY WONDERFUL Although ... VIEW POST
Something Fancy
One of my favourite things as a crafter is experimenting with the products I buy. I don’t have an unlimited budget so it’s important for me to get maximum value from every item. When I’m choosing what to spend my money on I’ll see how many different ways I can think of to use them. But even after doing this I’m sometimes surprised. That’s what happened with the Something Fancy Dies. I initially bought them for layering my sentiments which they do nicely, but then I discovered something ... VIEW POST
