And just like that her extended vacation is over and my granddaughter has returned home. The house is quiet now and it’s time to get back into my normal routine. Fortunately the weather was good yesterday and I was able to get all the bedding and towels washed and dried. Now I need to focus on a fall craft fair I’m attending in October. First on my list is a new selection of gender neutral birthday cards. I started with this balloon-themed one using the Celebrate With Tags Stamp Set. I ... VIEW POST
Playing with Animals Again
After yesterday’s #simplestamping project featuring the llama from the Zany Zoo Stamp Set I was inspired to make a project featuring another animal. This time I reached for the Playing In The Rain Stamp Set and the coordinating dies. I decided to create my own ‘scene’ including texture from the Crosshatch embossing folder (part of the Basics 3D Embossing Folders pack). Then there’s some simple layers using torn and inked card. By the time I was done I had this sweet thank you card with a ... VIEW POST
Fancy Trim
Do you need to have a plan when crafting, or are you happy to just “wing it”? To be honest pretty much everything I do has an element of unknown for me. Sometimes I’ll sit down with a vague idea in my head, other times I’m completely blank and have no clue what I’m going to make. The only certainty about today’s project was that it would be a birthday card. So let’s just say that the fancy trim and customised paper I ended up creating were a total surprise. COLOURFUL STRIPES I remember ... VIEW POST
Metal Plate
And still it rains! An abundance of water and warm temperatures has us in a cycle of foggy mornings and humid days. It’s great to see the plants flourishing, but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the garden from the other side of the window! Meanwhile it’s the perfect excuse for me to stay in and craft. Today’s project is a gender-neutral card with texture courtesy of the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder. However using the ‘debossed’ side gives a 'fish scale' look to this simple ... VIEW POST
Alphabest Gift
This summer our eldest granddaughter Alyssa is coming to stay for a few weeks and we’re all very excited about her visit. There’s the obligatory shopping, of course, which prompted me to design this personalised gift card holder using the Alphabest Stamp Set. We’re also making plans for other things to do while she’s here. We have some tours and excursions booked already that she knows about, but I’m hoping to slip some surprises in there too. So the Tim Horton’s gift card will likely be ... VIEW POST
Moody Mauve
I was attracted to the five new 2023-2025 In Colors from Stampin’ Up! as soon as I saw them. There’s something about these earth tones that just captured my imagination, and I was immediately sad that they’d only be around for two years. The first one that really caught my eye was Moody Mauve. I’ve always thought of mauve as a purple but this has more of a pink tone. Regardless of the name I love it and decided to create a card using nothing else (except white and gold). MAUVE HEARTS I ... VIEW POST
