Yesterday’s “miss you” card was a lot of fun to make and I loved the pencil coloured bouquet image. But as much as I enjoy colouring, sometimes I need something even quicker. That’s when patterned paper is so useful. Today’s brief was a simple gender-neutral “thank you” card that could be used year round. After a bit of thought I reached for the Layering Leaves Stamp Set for my sentiment. Then all I needed was a few scraps from the Let’s Go Fishing Designer Series Paper (DSP) and some ... VIEW POST
Christmas Gifting Again
On my Papercraft With Me Facebook page the other day I mentioned that even though I design almost all my own projects I still enjoy playing with project kits. One that I think offers great value for money is the Christmas Gifting Kit. At first glance it looks like a kit to make 9 jumbo gift tags. However also included in the box are 9 pockets that are perfectly sized for gift card holders (or Merci chocolate sticks). The question is, do you tie them together, or use them separately? Shining Gold
If you saw my Papercraft With Me Facebook page over the weekend you’ll know that the remnants of Hurricane Lee visited us here in Nova Scotia. As expected we lost power for a time during Saturday and there was nothing to do but ride it out. As well as reading, I spent time in my craft studio. Without power I couldn’t use my Heat Tool, but everything else was available to me. So I decided to create a wedding card while getting the shining gold from paper, ribbon and embellishments. SHINING ... VIEW POST
Shining Brightly
While I’ve made a number of different boxes and have easy tutorials on my YouTube channel, I’m not against buying pre-made ones too. In fact when I was in Dollarama recently I found a really nice box. It’s predominantly white, and quite sturdy, What’s more at 4-3/8” x 6-1/4” x 2-1/4” it’s not a bad size either. But what attracted me was the narrow gold foil border on the lid, and using the Shining Brightly Specialty Paper I had an idea to turn that box into something rather special. SHINING ... VIEW POST
Metal Plate Texture
One of the lessons I’ve learned over the years with my card designs is to mix it up. Some of my projects are really simple and require no special tools or techniques. However today’s birthday card doesn’t fall into that category. Instead I combined patterned paper, dies and embellishments. I also took a plain Very Vanilla top layer and added tons of interest using the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder. The result is a layout that could be adapted for many different occasions, simply change out the ... VIEW POST
Winter Meadow Warning
Yay it’s Friday! The end of a long week. The new Mini Catalogue has been a huge hit and I’ve been watching stock levels at Stampin’ Up! A few items are currently ‘not orderable’, as customers'demand far exceeded Stampin’ Up!’s initial expectations. But don’t worry, more deliveries are on the way with some things expected to be restocked as early as next week. The Winter Meadow 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) used on today’s card is running low, but hopefully more is included in the ... VIEW POST
