A few weeks ago one of my regular readers mentioned she loved my gift tag and bookmark projects but didn't have a lot of use for them. I love making tags and bookmarks for a couple of reasons. First, because they don't take up a lot of materials and can be quick to make. Second, because they give me an opportunity to try out or practice new ideas and techniques. What I would say is pretty much every tag and bookmark design could be turned into a card. So that's how today's Hippo birthday ... VIEW POST
Simple Colouring For A Simple Sunday
This morning I awoke to a very foggy landscape. I'm always struck how the garden looks completely different when some of the major features are hidden. The garden is also very quiet in the fog, even the crow on the power pole has nothing to say. So when I sat down to create today's simple Sunday project I had that quiet, muted feel in mind. I think I achieved it with some very simple grey stamping and colouring. SIMPLE COLOURING I began with a 4-1/4" x 2" piece of Thick Whisper White ... VIEW POST
Another Ink Pad Background Idea
Last week I showed you a fun technique for creating your own backgrounds using the 'ink swipe' technique. Today I have another quick and easy idea, the 'ink pad to paper' technique. As the name suggests the background is made by pressing the ink pad directly onto the paper or card. However unlike the ink swipe technique, this time you use a tapping type of motion. The result that you get depends on how much of the ink pad you allow to touch the paper, and how firmly you press. The result ... VIEW POST
Faith, Fun And A Bit Of Creative Luck
Yesterday's thank you card project was really quick and simple. Essentially all I did was stamp an image, colour it in and fix it to a card base. With that out of the way I decided it was time for another experimentation session. These are always a bit of a unknown event for me. I'll pull out some products and with a colour scheme or vague technique in mind I'll start to play. For instance this time I wanted to try an ink layered background to create a 'rusty' aged look. With the new the ... VIEW POST
A Poinsettia Christmas Reminder
While I'm sitting here wilting in the heat and waiting for the humidity to drop I'm looking forward. Six months forward in fact. Six months from today will be Christmas Eve. So I wonder if it's simply a coincidence then that later this afternoon Stampin' Up! Demonstrators will get their first look at the new Mini Catalogue. This one used to be called the 'Holiday Catalogue' in the US and Canada, and the 'Autumn/Winter' in Europe and I think it was 'Spring/Summer' in the South Pacific market. ... VIEW POST
Summer Days, Lazy Days
My 9 year old granddaughter Alyssa is an avid reader, like her mum and grandma. So it stands to reason that I send her bookmarks that I've made. Recently she very sadly admitted that one of them had been damaged and I promised to make a her a new one. I had the perfect image in mind, a child reading under a tree. It would be my first project using the new Summer Days (Host) Stamp Set. SUMMER DAYS Isn't that a sweet image, and all using just one stamp. I began by cutting a 2" x ... VIEW POST
