It’s Groundhog Day and blooming freezing outside! I’ve just checked Shubenacadie Sam’s Facebook page and she ventured out just long enough to predict six more weeks of winter. Not that I mind, that means six more weeks of keeping warm and entertained in my craft studio. When I was shopping recently I came across a little box of Lindor chocolates that gave me an idea for a Valentine’s Day project. So this morning, having found some coordinating paper in the Delicate Desert Designer Series Paper ... VIEW POST
Florets Uncoloured
So this week, Tuesday is Monday and we’re back to our normal routine, at least for a few days. We still have some turkey left which is how we like it. It won’t last much longer though, but we still have a big ham to bake so that our festivities can continue into New Year. These few days between the holidays leaves me with just a little time to craft. So today’s project is a simple thank you card using the Framed Florets Stamp Set, with absolutely no colouring required. FITTING ... VIEW POST
Florets Of Fancy
After yesterday’s very dramatic black gift tag I thought I should bring you a complete contrast for today’s project. So from my collection of cards created during my personal “24 cards in 24 hours” challenge I chose this birthday card. The design is really easy to do and uses no special techniques or tools. The fun part here was creating my own background design using the Framed Florets Stamp Set and three Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. The colours are a favourite combination of Old Olive, ... Florets and Polka Dots
With all the focus now firmly on Christmas it’s hard sometimes to remember that other events happen at this time of year. At the craft fairs I attended last weekend there were lots of people looking for cards, and not just for Christmas. I also sold get well, sympathy, new baby and anniversary cards to name but a few. So today I thought I’d decorate a box for a “special day”. All I needed was the Framed Florets Stamp Set and Dies along with the limited availability Fitting Florets ... VIEW POST
Florets Colour Testing
I love it when Stampin’ Up! creates Designer Series Paper (DSP) with images that coordinate with a stamp set and/or dies. It adds extra versatility, and is especially great if you’re not a fan of colouring or fussy-cutting. However one of the downsides for me is that I can get caught in a rut with the colours. So every time I pick up a stamp set like Framed Florets I can’t visualise anything other than the colours used by the DSP designers. That’s where quick experimental projects can be ... VIEW POST
Painted Florets
For today’s project I wanted to play a little more with the Framed Florets Stamp Set and coordinating dies. Painting with ink gave me a very different look to my previous experiments and I have to say I love it. I’m not a painter by any means, but it seems that the image I chose is very forgiving. Even the flower centres, where the colour bled after I painted them before the adjacent petals were properly dry, somehow seems to work. It certainly gives me ideas for a future project. FLORETS ...
