Last week I spent some quality time with my granddaughter on Brier Island here in Nova Scotia. Our trip was quite eventful with car trouble that threatened to scupper our plans. However some amazing locals on Long Island came to our aid and transformed a stressful day into one full of very special memories. We had the most amazing time whale watching and have made fast friends into the bargain. On our return I wanted to make thank you cards and this one is definitely something inspired by the ... Go To Greetings Again
It’s time for another simple Sunday project and this design is one I absolutely love. If it seems a little familiar I’m not entirely surprised, as it was inspired by an earlier project of mine. The decorative elements come from the Courage & Faith Stamp Set, while the beautifully scripted “thank you” is from Go To Greetings. Previously I used the two very similar leafy images to decorate a bookmark. Today though I really wanted to show how they’re also perfectly designed to create an elegant ... VIEW POST
Fancy Trim
Do you need to have a plan when crafting, or are you happy to just “wing it”? To be honest pretty much everything I do has an element of unknown for me. Sometimes I’ll sit down with a vague idea in my head, other times I’m completely blank and have no clue what I’m going to make. The only certainty about today’s project was that it would be a birthday card. So let’s just say that the fancy trim and customised paper I ended up creating were a total surprise. By My Side At The Beach
A couple of weeks ago I created a birthday gift tag that I just loved. It featured the boy from the By My Side Stamp Set simply coloured and then cut out. There was something about that project that just kept drawing me in and I said it had inspired me to make a feminine birthday tag. I’d forgotten all about it until I opened the By My Side Stamp Set this morning and found more of the images that I’d coloured back then. That made today’s project super quick! BY MY SIDE For today's ... VIEW POST
Textured Stripes
When I sat down to make today’s masculine birthday card I really had no idea what I was going to do. So I began with my box of A2 card bases that I cut, score and fold in advance to save time. Since having a week where almost all my projects were blue I’ve been consciously avoiding that colour. So instead I selected three random shades of brown; Early Espresso, Pecan Pie and Cajun Craze. What a great combination! The decision to add the embossed stripes came about much later. SHADES OF ... VIEW POST
Birthday Greetings
This morning I was in the mood for some colouring and fussy cutting. I have lots of stamp sets with line-art images to choose from so it took me a few minutes to decide. In the end I opted for another stamp set I haven’t used in a while, By My Side. The three people in this set are all linked to animals, but they’re easily separated with some masking before stamping, or scissors afterwards. Sadly By My Side doesn’t include a birthday sentiment but Go To Greetings solved that. SIMPLE ... VIEW POST
