A few days ago on my Facebook page I asked people to let me know what kind of Christmas cards they preferred; traditional, religious or cute. Well so far the majority has voted for traditional ones, with religious coming in second. Of course now I need to work out what ‘traditional’ looks like. In the meantime I decided to create something cute, Beary Cute in fact. After all it’s not about what we like as givers, it’s about understanding what the receiver likes, and for someone this is image ... VIEW POST
Things To Remember
Well those two days certainly flew by! Mind you they were quite productive. The new products have definitely got my creative brain going. I’ve made a good start on my Mini Catalogue sneak peeks although I have lots more to do. Today I must remember to photograph the completed projects and get them ready for Wednesday’s sneak peek kick-off. Meanwhile I decorated this mini sticky notes pad using products from the Annual Catalogue. Now to go through the Mini Catalogue again and tag all the other ... VIEW POST
Musical, Merry & Bright
With a daily blog to write I am always looking for inspiration for my next project (or six). Sometimes I know exactly where an idea came from, but not today. Today was one of those days where my card seemed to just happen without any conscious effort on my part. Perhaps that’s how I sat down in a heatwave with the music-themed Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder and ended up with a Christmas card. However, having chosen a purple colour scheme contrasted with black, this card is anything but ... VIEW POST
Alphabest Gift
This summer our eldest granddaughter Alyssa is coming to stay for a few weeks and we’re all very excited about her visit. There’s the obligatory shopping, of course, which prompted me to design this personalised gift card holder using the Alphabest Stamp Set. We’re also making plans for other things to do while she’s here. We have some tours and excursions booked already that she knows about, but I’m hoping to slip some surprises in there too. So the Tim Horton’s gift card will likely be ... VIEW POST
Florist Congratulations
A few days ago I had great fun jazzing up some Post-It® Notes using some of the Paper Florist Dies. This amazing set doesn’t coordinate with any stamp sets, so it could very easily be overlooked in the Stampin’ Up! 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue. There’s 18 dies in the set and I’m having a lot of fun discovering all the flower shapes I can create with them. Today’s elegant congratulations card project is very different as I set out to make a mainly white card with just a touch of silver. FLAT ... VIEW POST
Irresistible Vellum
I love using vellum. At it’s most basic, vellum diffuses any colour or pattern behind it. However one of my favourite techniques is to run it through my Cut & Emboss Machine inside an embossing folder. This not only adds texture, but also stresses the vellum so the design appears white. By running it backwards and then forwards through the machine you can even create a shadow effect. That’s how I created the layer behind the Hello, Irresistible 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (DSP) used on ... VIEW POST
