After yesterday's marathon paper piecing session I resolved to make today's project much more quickly. It's the 24th, which means another month has passed since I suggested you make a start on your Christmas crafting. Sadly I didn't take my own advice and now it's now only five months away and I've done very little. So today I thought I'd make an effort using the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set and coordinating Beautiful Boughs Dies. These appeared in last year's Holiday Catalogue and were carried ... VIEW POST
Wood You Please Stop Me Next Time
So this morning I sat down to create a panel for a paper carrier bag. Everything started out fine, I decided to create flowers using the Poppy Moments Dies. Then I pulled out the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack for my background. And that's when things took a detour. You see I got caught up in all the gorgeous wood patterns. I simply couldn't choose which one I liked best. Before I knew it the wood paper wasn't simply a background, or even an accent. With a marquetry ... VIEW POST
A Teeny Brushed Metal Sneak Peek
So today's project is nothing like what I had planned. It's not pink, it doesn't have flowers or a sentiment. It certainly doesn't remind me of a jacket I had some years ago. I also hadn't planned to use a new product from the Stampin' Up! August to December 2020 Mini Catalogue, but a teeny bit of Brushed Metal Cardstock snuck in there at the last minute. In fact the only part of my plan that did happen was I decorated a notebook. SPIRAL BOUND SOLUTION For the longest time I ... VIEW POST
The Easiest Textured Paint Background Ever
I mentioned a few days ago that I'm experimenting with some mixed media techniques. After all, there's a lot of cross-over between cardmaking and other paper crafts and I never know where my next idea will come from. I'm not a painter but paint can give great texture. It's not always a brilliant surface for stamping though so I've pretty much avoided it. However today's simple Sunday project has an amazing textured paint background. Of course it's a bit of a cheat, and I have the designers ... VIEW POST
Missing You By The Waterside
I like playing with my stamps and dies, but just because they coordinate doesn't mean they have to be used together. Take today for instance, despite having the By The Dock Stamp Set handy, the case stayed firmly closed. To create my waterside scene all I needed was a simple die-cut piece, some ink pads and my Water Painters. WATERSIDE SCENE As I knew it would take time to dry I began my project with the waterside scene. First I used the largest flat Water Painter to paint a layer ... VIEW POST
Better Late Than Never
Back at the end of March our daughter sent her Dad a birthday gift through the mail. Although she was posting from the UK she left plenty of time for it to arrive. However her plans were scuppered by COVID and mail issues on both sides of the Atlantic. The parcel finally arrived nine weeks later, after we'd all but given up hope. As well as the birthday gifts, there were treats for me too. A book she'd enjoyed reading, and chocolate. My regular readers will know I'm rather partial to ... VIEW POST
