Oh my goodness what a morning I’ve had! I mentioned yesterday that lots of the products being retired by Stampin’ Up! are selling out, and it’s playing havoc with my blog plans. I don’t think I’ve ever seen stamp sets sell out the way they have been, despite the fact they they’re generally not discounted. However, at the time of writing, the Sailing Home Stamp Set, Smooth Sailing Dies and the three other retiring products used on today’s project are still available. But for how much longer is ... Cheers With Tidings And Trimmings
Once again my planned project didn't quite turn out as I'd originally planned. This morning I sat down intending to make a Christmas-themed bottle tag. It was inspired by the "Cheers from our home to yours" sentiment from the Tidings & Trimmings Stamp Set. However despite pulling out card in traditional Christmas red and green, things took an entirely different direction. Sometimes that's just how it goes... BOTTLE TAG BASICS My bottle tag started very simply with a 2-3/4" x ... VIEW POST
Create A Blessings Jar For Thanksgiving
As Thanksgiving approaches (it's on October 11 here in Canada) thoughts turn to everything I'm grateful for. No matter what stresses I have, I can always find at least one reason to be thankful. So it seemed the perfect time to write them down on slips of paper. That way when I'm having a tough day I can look back at them to restore my perspective on life. With that in mind this morning I sat down and created this blessings jar. BELLY BAND The jar itself is just a standard 8oz ... VIEW POST
Marking World Diabetes Day 2020
In 1991 the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation created World Diabetes Day. Then in 2006 it was adopted as an official United Nations Day. It is now held every year on November 14th, the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting who in 1922 co-discovered insulin with Charles Best. If you been following my blog for a while you may know that in June 2017 we lost our son to complications arising from his Type 1 diabetes. He was just 31 years old. So diabetes awareness ... Autumn Wreath As The Weather Turns Colder
Yesterday was one of those days that reminded me winter is not far away. It was much colder, and the waves of heavy rain were studded with ice pellets. The very windy weather also made for difficult driving conditions and I was glad to make it home in one piece. This morning is better with bright sunshine melting the ice on the deck, and we have double-digit temperatures forecast for later in the week. Still, it won't be long before ice and snow becomes the norm. So today I decided to make ... VIEW POST
Whale Have A Happy Saturday
Today's card began after I received an e-mail from one of the design challenges I follow. CAS(E) this Sketch provided the layout and I immediately know whet I wanted to make. Instead of seeing the circle as a punched layer on top, I saw a hole. From there it all went swimmingly using the new Whale Done Stamp Set. WHALE OF A TIME For me the hardest part of this project was finding just the right background. I wanted it to complement my planned whale image and not distract from it. ... VIEW POST
