When I first began cardmaking I really didn't understand layers. Why would someone use more product than they needed to create a card? It took a while for me to realise that sometimes adding layers makes the card more interesting. That doesn't mean that simple one-layer cards can't be beautiful, but it's nice to have other options. Normally when I think of layers I think in terms of 'adding', for example layering DSP onto a slightly larger card mat. Or adding a sentiment onto a background ... VIEW POST
Noel and Christmas Pines
Well Christmas is definitely in the air here in my little part of Nova Scotia. Overnight we had a couple of inches of snow and everything looks very pretty. Mind you I don't think the pheasants that were out this morning were very impressed. Still, it was the perfect excuse to pull out the Christmas Pines Stamp Set with the large noel sentiment for today's project. PRETTY PINES I decided to start this project with the Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies and my Big Shot and multipurpose ... VIEW POST
Official Seal Of The North Pole
Even though making 24 different cards in 24 hours was a challenge last weekend, I still found time to experiment. Today's Z-fold card was the second of the 24 and I love the faux wax seal I created for it. THE BASIC CARD AND ENVELOPE I created the basic Z-fold card base using Thick Very Vanilla Card and my Stampin' Trimmer. To start I cut the card to 5-1/2" x 8-1/2". Then with the long side at the top I scored the card at 4-1/4". Next I flipped the card over so that the other long side ... VIEW POST
WWYS188 Takeout Treats
So we're back at another Monday morning, and once again I'm wondering where the past week went. Maybe it's my age but I swear time has speeded up at an alarming rate. Being Monday, it's time for another What Will You Stamp? Challenge. This week it's WWYS188 - Takeout Treats. The stamp set is designed for all those treats and little gifts you'll need over the coming months. Yes there is one Halloween sentiment, but there's also Christmas, thank you, love and other options too. So for my ... VIEW POST
Santa’s Apron Christmas Cheer
Yesterday I spent some time in my craft studio looking at different colour combinations for future projects. With all the new colours in the Stampin' Up! range I wanted to explore some options. Poppy Parade is a vibrant bright red that I haven't used much but it goes beautifully with black and white. Of course as soon as I saw them together I immediately thought 'Christmas', and before I knew it I'd created a Santa's Apron bottle tag. SANTA'S APRON TAG BASE The base of the tag is a ... VIEW POST
