When I think of the phrase "miles apart but close at heart" like most people I think it refers to significant distances. In fact probably hundreds if not thousands of miles. But with all the COVID restrictions those miles (or kilometres) could be much less. Everyone is coping with the stress and worry in their own way and with vaccines now being approved for use hopefully we'll start to see the beginning of the end. Until then, why not bridge those miles with a handwritten ... VIEW POST
Family, Always Close At Heart
While hubby and I live in Canada, our daughter and her family live in the UK. It's never really been an issue as we've always been able to visit when we wanted, but COVID has brought challenges. So we're thankful for technology that allows us to chat via messaging or video chats. Photos are another way to keep in touch and when printed off and put into an album, they make very personal gifts. Keeping family close at heart was the inspiration for today's quick project. The Easiest Textured Paint Background Ever
I mentioned a few days ago that I'm experimenting with some mixed media techniques. After all, there's a lot of cross-over between cardmaking and other paper crafts and I never know where my next idea will come from. I'm not a painter but paint can give great texture. It's not always a brilliant surface for stamping though so I've pretty much avoided it. However today's simple Sunday project has an amazing textured paint background. Of course it's a bit of a cheat, and I have the designers ... VIEW POST
Ornate Layers Becomes A Tag Base
Right now my to do list is looking more like a novel and I'm determined to make a real dent in it today. So I decided today's project would be a very quick gift tag using the Ornate Layers Dies as my starting off point. SIMPLE SPONGED BACKGROUND Before I could get to the Ornate Layers Dies I first needed to create the background for my tag. SoI took a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card and then chose my ink colours. In the end I selected Granny Apple Green, Crushed Curry ... VIEW POST
In Search Of Pretty Sunflowers
Here's a quick but striking project I haven't made in a while. It's a plant stake style tag. In the past I've made them using a variety of wreath stamps and dies but today's project is a little different. As soon as I saw the big die in the new Sunflowers Dies I new it would be perfect. SUNFLOWER STAKE I began with the new Sunflowers Dies, specifically the large solid die and the large delicate die. I die-cut two of the solid sunflowers, one each from the new Bumblebee Card and Thick ... VIEW POST
Wildly Grateful For Lovely You
Yesterday I received some more new products from the Stampin' Up! 2020/2021 Annual Catalogue. It wasn't a large box by any means but suddenly I was spoiled for choice and I had no idea what to play with first. In the end I decided on the Lovely You Stamp Set, and a simple card layout. LOVELY YOU - LOVELY LEAVES My original plan was to use three stamps from the Lovely You Stamp Set to create a leafy bookmark. I cut a 2" x 5-1/2" piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card and then set to ...
