Despite having lived most of my life in a very large town in the UK I think I'm a country girl at heart. Now I'm lucky enough to live in a very rural part of Nova Scotia and I never tire of the scenery. In fact it was the view out over the bay that inspired this card. FIRST PREPARE YOUR FISH For this project started with the fish image from the Best Catch Stamp Set. Using my Stamparatus I first stamped it onto some Window Sheet using StazOn jet Black ink and set it aside to dry. ... VIEW POST
Torn Edges For A Different Look
When you're designing 24 different cards in 24 hours it can be difficult to keep them, well, different. Time pressures meant I had to be creative and one way I did that was to include layers with torn edges. The trick with this was to make sure the piece was at least 1/2" larger than I wanted for the finished layer. Then I tore the around the piece, pulling the edge towards me. I've found that with less than 1/2" extra I didn't have enough to hold while I tore. My advice? try it on some ... VIEW POST
Sidetracked By The Scenery
I am often inspired in my crafting by the local scenery here in Nova Scotia. At this time of year it is the amazing autumn colour palette that has me stopping the car, or jumping up from my desk. When the light is just right everything seems to glow. Sadly though, today may be one of my last opportunities to admire autumn at it's finest as we are due some bad weather which will likely strip the remaining leaves from the trees. So here's a gift tag inspired by a trip out yesterday... A ... VIEW POST
The Power Of Inked Embossing
The very first card I made as part of my World Card Making Day challenge was this good luck card. I have to say that it's one of my favourites. I'm not sure if it's the colour scheme or the very striking inked embossing folder, whatever it is I love it. GOOD LUCK This card and my challenge began with the good luck sentiment from the Believe You Can (Host) Stamp Set. I stamped the image onto a piece of Very Vanilla Card using Tuxedo Black ink, then set to work with my Stampin' Blends ... VIEW POST
Peppermint Patty Pincher!
I thought I was being clever when I put an unopened pack of York Peppermint Patties in the fridge. The theory was it would stop me from snacking on them while I was crafting. Unfortunately I had not considered the peppermint patty pincher I am married to. So this morning I had no choice but to make this treat packaging, while I still had a peppermint patty to put in it! SECURING THE PEPPERMINT PATTY This peppermint patty packaging is really simple to make and works with lots of other ... VIEW POST
Attempting Another Colour Challenge
Today I decided I needed to use up some of my part finished and test pieces on my desk. At the same time I thought it would be fun to attempt another colour challenge. I looked through my emails and there was this week's challenge from the Global Design Project team. So with that as my starting point I set to work. TEST PIECE This project began with the background which was actually a test piece I had created when I first received the Delicata Celestial Copper ink pad. All I did was ... VIEW POST
