It’s funny how a little bit of sunshine and blue sky can raise the spirits. While I’m still in COVID self-isolation I’m enjoying the first signs of spring. Today we were treated to the sight of a dozen white-tailed deer in the area behind our house. The birds are out, and so was one of our resident red squirrels. I love living in rural Nova Scotia with all the wildlife that comes to visit. We’re working on creating a flower meadow in the back field and that inspired ... VIEW POST
Meadow Flower Makes A Bold Statement
The trouble with silhouette-style dies is that there's always the temptation to try to add detail. I've experienced this myself with the Meadow Dies (and the similar Harvest Dies). For today's project however I managed to keep it really simple. Adding the soft background was a breeze using the Beauty Of The Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP). The finished card is certainly hard to miss. MEADOW FLOWER My project began as I was experimenting with the Meadow Dies and scraps of coloured ... VIEW POST
Petal Pink Finally Has Me Hooked
When Stampin' Up! refreshed its colour range a couple of years ago I had mixed feelings. Out went some of my favourite colours, but so too did some I wasn't keen on so that balanced it out. Of all the new colours I suppose the one I've struggled with the most is Petal Pink. There was just something about Petal Pink that made me avoid it when designing projects. Perhaps it was because the colour wasn't a proper 'pink'. It took a while, but suddenly I'm in love with Petal Pink. It's still ... VIEW POST
Summer Skies With Beauty Of The Earth
While I don't mind creating my own sky effect I certainly don't mind cheating now and again. The background for today's bookmark project is one example of that. You might be surprised to find that among all the trees and leaves in the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack is this amazing pattern. It's a watercolour wash effect that makes adding a summer sky an absolute breeze. BEAUTY OF THE EARTH This project really did begin with the sky background from the Beauty of ... VIEW POST
Natural Textures And Other Host Stamp Sets
One of the most overlooked parts of any Stampin' Up! catalogue has to be the Host section near the back. Some customers seem to think that if they're not hosting a workshop or 'party' that it's not relevant to them. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact if you have a larger order (at least $200 CAD before shipping and taxes) you can qualify for host perks. That includes exclusive stamp sets like Natural Textures which I used on today's project. WOVEN TEXTURES The Natural ... VIEW POST
I’m Visiting Peekaboo Farm Again
It's the start of another busy month and today I'm playing peekaboo with the new Kits Collection from Stampin' Up! The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that there's no kits in the new Annual Catalogue, and there's a good reason for that. Stampin' Up! wanted to have more flexibility to expand their range of kits, and add to them throughout the year. So to allow customers to see exactly what's available the new Kits Collection will be online only. We're starting with ten kits, and more ... VIEW POST
