Sunday is Valentine's Day and for most people it will be very different to last year. Still that doesn't stop us sending cards. When you visit the stores most card displays are a sea of red, and hearts abound. But often I feel that the designs are quite feminine, so today I wanted to do something a little different. GREY BASE I began this card several times, first with a card base in Pretty Peacock. Then I changed to Gray Granite, and I even toyed with Whisper White. Nothing really ... VIEW POST
Happy Making Love Hearts Treats
It's February, and that means you'll be seeing hearts everywhere as we head towards Valentine's Day. The shops are full of heart-shaped products, and the candy aisles have taken on a very red hue. One of the candies I picked up was a bag full of rolls of Love Hearts candies. These were quite inexpensive and I thought would make great treats or favours. So this morning I sat down to turn these uninspiring Love Hearts packs into something a little more giftable. HEARTS WRAP I began by ... VIEW POST
Ending July With A Gilded Sneak Peek
It's Friday, the last day of the month and I woke up with the intention of making it as stress-free as possible. I failed. My trusty laptop is getting old and I am faced with the prospect of replacing it. Not something I relish, as while I can probably transfer over my existing programs and files, I will have to get used to a new operating system. Not to mention the cost! Oh well, after 8 years I suppose I should have seen it coming. So before everything locks up again, here's a ... VIEW POST
Today’s Project Is Totally Stitched Up
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Today's project does include a little heart but I was actually more focused on the stitched pieces. I find going back to older but still available stamp sets and dies so rewarding and had such fun creating today's project. SIMPLE BACKGROUND LAYER I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base. Next I chose ... VIEW POST
Polka Dots Are My Second Favourite
The other day I said I might be addicted to gingham, and while that's still true, I also have a thing for polka dots. Polka dots make pretty backgrounds, adding subtle detail without overpowering the focal image or sentiment. So when I wanted to make an anniversary card for my World Card Making Day challenge, it seemed the obvious choice. POLKA DOTS FROM BIRD BALLAD Unsurprisingly I began my project with the polka dot pattern from the Bird Ballad 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) ... VIEW POST
Copper And Blue, Just For You
My plan this morning was to create a large gift tag that could be used for a variety of occasions. I knew I didn't want flowers but instead wanted something suitable for anyone. In the end I think I succeeded with copper and blue and a "just for you' sentiment. JUST FOR YOU I began with the "Just for you" sentiment from the Meant To Be Stamp Set, stamped onto Very Vanilla Card using Night of Navy ink . To cut it out I chose the Stitched Shapes Dies, specifically the #3 square die ... VIEW POST
