Stampin' Up! really does make it easy to create lovely papercraft projects. What's more there's a continuity that straddles the products so mixing and matching from different catalogues is seamless. Mind you that wasn't exactly what I had in mind today. I just thought it would be nice to create a card with an autumn feel using an older stamp set that's still available. So after picking out the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set and coordinating Nature's Roots Dies I set to work. ROOTED IN ... VIEW POST
A Busy Thanksgiving Weekend
It's Thanksgiving on Monday here in Canada and we're enjoying a long weekend. It's going to be a busy one, starting with the local Fire Department's annual auction. Every year I'm amazed by how much is donated for the sale and the amount of money raised. What's more, I love seeing things going to new homes rather than landfill. Reuse, repurpose, recycle. Thanksgiving weekend is also when the local craft bazaars where I sell many of my cards and projects close for the season. Not that ... VIEW POST
Autumn Colours And Textures
Ooh it was chilly this morning! Autumn is definitely in the air and the garden is starting to show it. I have a feeling my casserole recipe book is about to make it to the top of the pile. I do love autumn though, there's something about the colours and textures that never fail to inspire me. Today I decided to decorate a mini pizza box with a sweet sunflower as my focal point. Although I knew I wanted a yellow sunflower on my box, I began by looking at the Come To Gather 12" x 12" ... VIEW POST
Pine Tree Simplicity
As we're only days away from seeing the full Retiring List I've been sorting through some of the products that I know will definitely go. Designer Series Paper (DSP) is one of these. In amongst the Nature's Poem DSP I found some wood effect paper I'd completely forgotten about. So that lead me to the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and this simple pine tree thank you card. SIMPLE BASE I began with a simple base of Thick Very Vanilla Card cut and scored using my retiring Stampin' Trimmer. ... VIEW POST
Rooted In Nature Christmas Trees
Don't you just love it when you can get more out of your crafting tools. When buying stamp sets I try to think about how they might be used in different ways, for example as Christmas trees. Rooted in Nature was one that appealed to me for a number of reasons. The images can be used for masculine and feminine projects, and they vary in scale. They also compliment other stamp sets that I have, like Lovely As A Tree (and now Winter Woods too). Of course one of the challenges is remembering ... VIEW POST
Lone Pine Tree – Thinking of You
Just recently a couple of friends have both lost close members of their family. Sympathy card are hard to make but I know first hand how comforting it is to receive them. When preparing to make today's card I automatically reached for the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set and specifically the lone pine tree image. By itself, this tree could be seen as quite sad, but I prefer to look at it as something that has weathered the storms, and still stands strong. It's forever shaped by what has happened ... VIEW POST
