If you’ve followed my blog for a while you’ll know I’m a sucker for cute animals. So you can imagine how sad I feel at all the animal stamp sets that are on the Last Chance Lists. I say lists (plural) because not only are we saying goodbye to the 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue, but also the January to April 2023 Mini Catalogue too. Mind you I’ve combined them into a single PDF just to make life easier. So today’s birthday card features one of those retiring sets, Nuts About Squirrels. TWO-STEP ... VIEW POST
Christmas With Squirrels
I’ve been counting down the weeks to Christmas for a while now and it can’t be ignored any longer. Today is November 25th and the big day is only a month away. I’m not sure how it snuck up on me but I may be officially in panic mode! It’s a good job I designed and made a stash of cards during my recent personal challenge. Today I have a Christmas card featuring squirrels. They aren’t usually associated with Christmas but somehow these particular squirrels just seemed the perfect fit. INKED ... VIEW POST
Hoarding Like Squirrels
I love stamp sets and admit I’m a bit of a hoarder. That’s probably not news to you, but I suspect many of you are hoarders too. However even with a stamp set I love I sometimes wish there were other/extra images. This was exactly what happened after I got the Nuts About Squirrels Stamp Set last year. The two squirrels are so cute but something was definitely missing, separate acorn images. So why was it only after I’d finished today’s project that I realised my wish had been granted? NUTS ... A Simple Sunday With Nuts About Squirrels
We haven't seen much of our resident red squirrels during the spring and summer, but that's about to change. With autumn, their activity is much more noticeable as they stock their larders. Come the heavy snow of winter we'll put out a few nuts and raisins each day to keep them going. We love watching them and seeing which of the treats they go for first. So it was no surprise when I decided to add the Nuts About Squirrels Stamp Set to my collection. Like the real squirrels, there's ... VIEW POST
Gilded Leafing – A Successful First Attempt
When it comes to 'new' products and techniques I'm often late to the party. It's not that I'm afraid to try new things, but rather that I'm not one to jump straight in. So it took me a little while to decide to get the Gilded Leafing, and a while longer to actually use it. Gilded leafing comes in a large tub that is full to the brim with the most delicate gold flakes. Using it is essentially quite simple you just attach it to a project with some form of glue. I've seen various technique ... VIEW POST
Autumn Colours And A Squirrel
No change here. It's hot and muggy and typically I'm thinking about cooler weather. Fall isn't far away and a change of decor will be needed in my dining room. So out go the bright flowers and in come the more muted neutral tones of autumn. That means I need to create napkin rings using the Nuts About Squirrels Stamp Set. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it... NAPKIN RING I began by making the ring part of my napkin ring. First I cut a 2" x 5" piece of Pale Papaya Card, rolled ... VIEW POST
