It’s 30 days until Thanksgiving in Canada and Mother Nature’s starting to put out the decorations. Even though it’s unseasonably warm here in Nova Scotia I can still see signs of autumn starting to appear. There’s lots of pumpkins and pumpkin spice treats in the stores, but for me the best part of autumn is the warm colours. So when I found a leafy stencil in the new Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks I couldn’t help myself. Out came the Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Copper Clay and Berry Burst ink ... VIEW POST
Smiles & Sadness
Today I’m little sad as our granddaughter returns home to the UK after spending 3 weeks with us here in Nova Scotia. We’ve been shopping across the border in Maine, attended a powwow in Truro, and walked on the ocean floor at Wasson Bluff. But the highlight was most definitely whale watching in the Bay of Fundy. That eventful trip brought tears as car trouble nearly scuppered our plans, however the amazing kindness of people we met on Long Island saved the day and restored the smiles to our ... VIEW POST
Frosted Dots Magic
Although I’m still enjoying summer with my 12 year-old granddaughter I can’t help but think of Christmas. As a papercrafter it’s a bit of an occupational hazard. However my recently delivered pre-order from the Stampin’ Up! September to December 2023 Mini Catalogue remains unopened. In fact today’s simple Sunday project was made before Alyssa arrived. I’d made a card using the Courage & Faith Stamp Set and had a little extra time to play. But when I added Loose Frosted Dots to the berries on ... VIEW POST
Warm Welcome Reminder
You’ve heard me mention Stampin’ Up!’s Online Exclusives range before. Over the past week I’ve used a number of products from this range which have never appeared in any catalogue (and won’t). However did you realise that this range also includes a few items that were in a past catalogue but are no longer there? These include two of the larger sizes of Circle Punches that were retired several years ago. But with today’s quick project I wanted to reaquaint you with the Warm Welcome Stamp Set ... VIEW POST
Irresistible Colour Pairing
Over the past week or so I’ve brought you projects using a limited range of colours. Today’s card project is another of these. This time I’ve taken my inspiration from the Hello, Irresistible 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. The deep greeny-blue of Pretty Peacock pairs beautifully with the very pale green that is Soft Sea Foam. While it’s a simple layout, I decided to try something new with the arrangement of the layers. For my sentiment I pulled out another Online Exclusive product, ... VIEW POST
Timber For Bigger Projects
It’s the weekend and it looks like it’s going to be a lovely day. That’s a good thing as my granddaughter and I have plans to visit a Powwow. I’ve never been to one before and am not sure what to expect. However I’m sure I’ll be taking lots of photos. So to store our memories I decorated this large notebook with a very tactile wood-effect background using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. All it took was card and ink, along with a second run through my Cut & Emboss Machine. My project ... VIEW POST
