In 1991 the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organisation created World Diabetes Day. Then in 2006 it was adopted as an official United Nations Day. It is now held every year on November 14th, the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting who in 1922 co-discovered insulin with Charles Best. If you been following my blog for a while you may know that in June 2017 we lost our son to complications arising from his Type 1 diabetes. He was just 31 years old. So diabetes awareness ... Drama With Itty Bitty Greetings
As I sit down to write this blog post we are awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Teddy. With torrential rain and high winds in the forecast there's a good chance that we'll lose power at some point. So with that in mind I created this dramatic gift tag using the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. GOLDEN GREETINGS I began by cutting a 2-1/2" x 3-3/4" piece of Basic Black Card for the tag base. Then using the Detailed Trio Punch I added an oval hole at the top. Next I cut a 1/2" x 2-1/2" ... VIEW POST
Simple Three Layer Card Idea
Well yesterday was a complete write off as I wasn't feeling great and spent the whole day curled up on the sofa with a book. Today I'm better, although still not 100% so I'm planning to take it easy again. I still have a project for you though. It's a simple three layer card that needs no special tools or techniques. Envelope Envy No Longer Applies
A few years ago Stampin' Up! had a set of dies called Envelope Liners Framelits that created liners for their envelopes (no surprise there). If you were following me back then you'll know it was one of my favourite die sets and I was crushed it retired. So imagine my delight when I opened up the new August to December 2020 Mini Catalogue and found Envelopes Dies. This new catalogue goes live to customers one week from today and I had to start my sneak peek week with these new ... VIEW POST
Olive And Cinnamon Branches
After yesterday's marathon paper piecing session I resolved to make today's project much more quickly. It's the 24th, which means another month has passed since I suggested you make a start on your Christmas crafting. Sadly I didn't take my own advice and now it's now only five months away and I've done very little. So today I thought I'd make an effort using the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set and coordinating Beautiful Boughs Dies. These appeared in last year's Holiday Catalogue and were carried ... VIEW POST
Let’s Leaf It For The Guys
In yesterday's blog post I talked about how I manage my scraps. My bookmark project used tiny scraps of patterned paper to add colour and interest to the image. Today once again I'm using scraps, but this time narrow strips of card caught my eye. With the addition of a leaf print paper it took no time at all to create this masculine thank you card. LEAF COORDINATION From the outset I'd decided that on this project a leaf pattern would feature prominently. So I made a beeline for the ... VIEW POST
